i am currently bidding on the content network. my adgroup categories range from family to knitting and im trying to target 35-60 year old women. i see in adwords editor that after 17000 impressions...0 clicks.

also, in the adwords editor many keywords say inactive. does that mean inactive for search or content network or both?

why am i getting no clicks? its not really relevant to the content, but its the same demographic who would like the site. what am i doing wrong?

Not sure how u set everything up but most likely this is only referring to search as you got 17K impressions in content. Go to the bottom of the keyword list and you should see stats for the content network.

You are not getting clicks because your ad does not relate with the content on the page they are reading so they are not interested in wtv you are advertising. If someone is reading about knitting and see an ad for pills to help with menopause chances are they wont be clicking it even though roughly the same demographic would be interested in these things. Another thing to note is bidding on X and advertising Y will give you a shit quality score and Google will stop giving you impressions once they catch on.

hm. so it is still better to target something related

Here's a tip: Look for sites and forums in your niche that have adsense on them. (There are programs out there, like Adsensefinder that will do this).

Then target those sites specifically (better yet - specific to pages within their sites) with your content ads.

And - make a copy of your campaign where you only run image ads. Test out which campaign gets better CTR - the text ads or the image ads. The niche or demographic might not respond well to one or the other.

demographic+context+timing=most targeted traffic

great advice. i will try that out. i am trying to target women 35-60. i went after sites that demographic would like, but zero clicks still.
