Offline To Online Marketing Methods

Great post. Like someone else mentioned, I've been meaning to try this for a while now too but also get the feeling of "it's probably a waste of time". Think I'm going to have to take a more serious look. Keep us posted on your progress.

This has been brought up in the past, including doing commercials, but nothing to the extent of that post. Good shit man. I'm interested in the results, keep us posted.

Good thread, Aequitas. I'm looking forward to seeing your results. I'm actually more interested in offline-to-online advertising as opposed to PPC. Especially because you have pretty fine grain control over the placement of your ad. That's more true of space ads than classified.

Also, what you said about offline-to-online conversion being higher is true. But that's because the only traffic you're getting to your site is people who are so interested in the offer that they got off their ass, went over to the computer, and went to your site. So what's really happened is that by the time they're at your site, you've already had your first, and biggest conversion.

BTW, the comment telling people not to write a long copy ad is poor advice. The type of ad really depends on what you're selling. Of course, for something low margin like your $35 offer, a classified ad is best. But if the numbers show you could make your money back on a larger ad, especially a space ad, long copy always wins.

Good thread and just in time as it's been a little weak around here lately. I actually just failed miserably placing a few ads for one offer in a local paper recently but I think it was due to poor placement as I converted at 12% but very few people went to my site. So far the ad has been out 2 weeks at $100 each week so $200 total invested and my return has been $45 so I'm down $155 so far with another $100 ad going out today. I will post the final results in here in a week since my final ad goes out today.

Time to reevaluate my ad placement and try again. I might go front page this time and get more visibility since conversions were strong but no one went to my site. Not sure if most saw it but didn't bother tying in the url to check it out or no one saw it due to bad placement. I'll find out for sure with the next test.

Nice post, I've been thinking of trying this out but haven't had the time.

I guess google print ads is only available to US residents? That sucks!

Actually, I'm just starting a new site in the same niche... the above links were very useful.

There is a similar offline -> online advertising test with a 1", $75 ad in the back of a magazine. They were sending people to an opt-in first and capturing their email (so they could follow-up with similar offers) then sending them to the offer advertised in the magazine.

Well, after a few good old crown & cokes .... it came to me. There's such a damn delicate balance to this offline>online affiliate deal.

We're looking for an audience within a particular niche that have internet access and some sort of computer sense BUT NOT an audience who are already "ad blind" and familiar with all of the common offers we push. IMO, seniors and teens are out. Best bet? Middle aged population.

Just some food for thought. Cheers.

I was thinking that too Spades. I was going to push some "work from home" type things to a college crowd, but advertising is too damn expensive for me right now.

So I learned that to have my own flyer inserted into the local newspaper will cost me $60 for every thousand inserts and there main paper reaches 8400 people and there weekend paper reaches about 24000 people.

So I have decided that instead of taking out a classified ad that may not get that much exposure I'm going to do up a flyer and spend $60 or $120 to reach 1000 to 2000 people in my area and that way they will have a full page spread of what I'm promoting and they can use that to keep by them when they go to there computer.

I will reach less people for more money but I will be able to gain more brandability and more credibility by doing so which hopefully will lead to more type in conversions then a classified ad would in the back hidden sections of the newspaper.

I'm going to take this ad out next week and let you know the progress of the advertisement.

Also the code samples i was talking about earlier in this thread will be out soon I'm going to try and aim for this weekend but we will see.

Yes & No it depends on your niche of course & you should always test.

Im having decent success with a short explanation of the products i promote well placed pictures, and my domains well placed aswell.

I promote penis enlargement & weight loss pills and i find short copy works well.

So yeah when it comes down to it test long vs short!

Sounds like a bad ass idea Aequitas. I'm sure you're promoting something with a $10+ payout and not some $1.50 zip submit, otherwise those numbers will probably work against you. Please keep the thread updated, I'm itching to try this shit myself.

This is awesome. I started this about two months ago after reading The Rich Ad Freak but just couldn't decide on an offline mode of advertising.

What kind of results are you guys having with Google print ads? I may try that or just some local magazines.

Yeah the majority of offers I'm promoting will have a $35 payout which I can have increased to at least $40 to $45 if the conversions get high enough.

So I only need to make 2 conversions out of 1000 flyers sent out to earn my test money back.

With only a 1% response rate it would be profitable. The norm is 1-3%, sometimes as high as 8% if the copy is good

Correct however I'm going to be basing my entire campaign off a 1 to 2 percent conversion ratios which is why I picked a higher priced payout but the user doesn't even have to spend anywhere the amount that I get paid for the offer.

If you all want to know the offer I'm going to create the flyer for its for Bidz Jewelry Auctions since I think this will do good in my area, I just gotta grab up a few more comparison demographics before I make a larger comintment to it, which is why I'm just going to do a few small tests for this new offer at first.
