Is your AM ripping you off?

Pretty sad, the shadiness in this industry, especially considering the amount of $$$ there is to go around. Regardless, encrypt your sh!t, cloak it, double meta refresh, all that.

Some AMs and networks are shady. Ask yourself if you really trust who you are working with.

Does that network run their own inhouse campaigns? Does your AM ask you for information that they shouldn't be concerned about?

Don't use network's subid. Track on your server and redirect nothing to the network or encrypt it. Place your pixel.

rr207, which network(s) are you talking about? I would say it definitely depends on which network - I have worked with some that are more shady and others that have been great. PM me if you want to talk in more detail.

Use something like Prosper202, then your just passing a number as a subid, your click is cloaked, and you track everything on the back end. The way it SHOULD be.

Keep it public. Post the network.

Your AM is not the one "ripping you off" 99 times out of 100. Most commonly? the merchant. After that it's either DT sucking or a shady ass network.
And that is why you split test like a mother fucker. Higher EPC takes the traffic.

If you are worried about your network tracking your data, then cloak your links and don't use the same subids provided by the network. Using prosper202, and using the cloak setting when creating a campaign, should keep you in the clear. They can use this information to tell other people under them what to do. Basically stealing your info, to make someone else money under them as well. This gets the AM more money.

This is known as "affiliate hijacking." It's complexed way of pocketing your money with you noticing, or noticing and not being able to do anything about it. Consult the terms of service and possibly hire a lawyer.

NEVER send your keywords as subids. Throw some PHP tracking on your page [it's easy, do it yourself] and send encrypted ids. I coded something to save keywords, ip addresses, etc... in an MySQL database, and it auto generates random numbers that are sent to the network. It's easier to track like that, and the peace of mind is what it's all about, and knowing that nobody can spy on my campaigns. Everyday you see a summary of how your campaigns are converting, ctr, good and bad keywords, etc..
