Lately I've been having trouble waking up in the morning. One time I nearly fell asleep in the shower: I found myself leaning against the wall, and then my knees buckled because I was going in and out of sleep. I nearly busted my ass but grabbed the shower curtain instead and ripped it down instead of falling.

Some people drink coffee or Red Bull, some pop Adderall or smoke fat blunts. What do you do that gets you ready for the day? How about after nights where you only get a few hours of sleep: do you do something special for those occasions? I need to figure out something that works, asap.

Every night I fall asleep with all her wonderfulness in my arms. And in the morning when the warm sun rises up and peeks through the blinds just after my alarm clock rings I roll over to my side and look at her lay so gently in all her peaceful glory and then grab her and proceed to beat myself off with my mouth fleshlight. So ya, my fleshlight gets me up in the morning.

For a second I thought you were talking about your chihuahua...

My alarm is what wakes me up. Why don't you try sleeping more? I'm sure that would help with the wake-up.

I've had the same problem for some time now - I started setting a second alarm 10 minutes earlier than my main alarm, wake up, pop a NoDoz caffeine pill, fall asleep, wakeup again 10 minutes later.

I'm a night owl, but I also can't sleep in until 11 am anymore. I live off of 4-5 hours of sleep which is not enough for me. I am trying out taking 10 minute power naps (google it) and use pzizz.com for it. So far it seems to work on easing my sleep debt, but I've only been doing to for a week or so.

James, some people just aren't morning people.
I take aaaages to wake up... But then I can go all night. It's pretty rare for me to feel tired before 2am.
It's all about what your circadian rhythm is up to.

Good news is that you can sorta reset it.
Stay up for 48 hours or more, and then hit the sack at a time that gives you about 12 hours before your nominated wake up time.

Money is my motivation. But for the hard short nights, I prepare strong coffee or an energy drink right by my bedside. Wake up to music and sit there and sip on it for a minute.

I normally take ages (took, reason for that later) to wake up 3-4 cups of coffee, etc.

Just got myself an Axbo alarm clock. Thing wakes you up at the best time (sleep phase measurement through movement tracking).
Basically, you give it the time that is the LAST possible moment you want to wake up. It chekcs the half hour before, and when you are close to waking anyway, it gives you the final push (alarm sound) to wake you.
Finally, if you are just too deep under, it will wake you at the time you entered, like any alarm would.

My experience so far:
- Takes a while to get used to the idea and to trust the thing.
- It really feels like waking up on your own, some mornings, I did not realize the thing is waking me the first few seconds.
- You still need to get out of bed, but I am literally awake after a minute, not after an hour of being out of bed.
- It will not help you sleep less. If you don't get enough sleep, you don't get enough sleep and you'll still be tired. (Still easier in the morning, tho)

All in all, the fucker is expensive, but worth it.

Here is the info (non-affiliated, to show you this is not just a sales pitch)

I will change my clock to a random time, then set the alarm a few hours/minutes ahead (however long I allocate to sleeping).

When the alarm goes off, I try to figure out the real time by doing the math. Something about having to do that wakes me up.

Except on Fridays. On Fridays, the Happy Truck wakes me up.
