I'm new to Wickedfire, am loving the insight and banter going on here. I haven't been in the affiliate market for almost a year...much has changed. While I know that no "trade secrets" will be revealed here, can I get some general ideas on how to gain insight into beating Google's all-powerful "Quality Score"? What are good resources? Anything will be helpful, Grassy Ass in advance.:music07:

Are you talking about adword QS? The deal has basically shifted from thin/onepager landing pages to thin affiliate sites SEO'd to shit. Forget irrelevant keywords for mass cheap traffic. You get raped in the bids until your QS improves. No direct linking. Unmasked affiliate links are suspected to get you penalized.
 
Domains can also affect QS - I have a few domain names parked to the same hosting account, and just by changing which domain the landing page is on (and making no changes to the page itself), QS can change. Just try things for yourself, as there are a lot of variables that go into the nonsensical QS calculations.

disagree, i have many direct linked keywords with QS of 9 (use the keyword url to link) its all about the CTR here baby.


and i keep hearing seo it. onpage or offpage? because i've tried onpage and it doesn't do shit. but then i seo everything onpage anyway as its the way i learned to web code so i have nothing to base it on. all my keywords always seem to start at 7 after the google bot has visited.

are we talking getting a pile of relevent authority links..?

Yes, and I have a 12 year old DMOZ listed PR 7 domain that gains about 800 links per day with blackhat only, without red flags. The fact that my trusted domain can take the heat does not mean that a 2 day old domain can take the same level of linkbuilding and survive.
We are not talking about the extremes.

So, if you are starting out, no direct linking.

But I am not an expert on PPC. I do only normal advertisement campaigns, not affiliate ppc, so others can pitch in :)

i'd say looking at the data i have recieved so far QS is 80-90% based on your keywords historical CTR. the number one site i have is one page with a TOS and privacy page. all keywords 10/10 but 20%+ ctr. all the other sites i have done, minisites -> the full monty no change, different accounts.soon as the ctr goes up so does the QS

conclusion so far QS = CTR

and it makes sense google makes more money and they have to do less work (let the people decide)

please take with a pinch of salt and make your own conclusions i'm certainly no expert.
 
I kind off agree on this, the biggest factor is CTR. I have a killer ad that competes in niches with 2-3 euro clicks, costing me 12 cents due to the insane CTR.

So basically, yea, learn to do marketing.
