blanko05, disregard bb_wolf, he doesn't know what his talking about half the time, just gives a bad name to the veterans. He doesn't seem to understand that it is SO common to spend beyond your limit on a profitable campaign. Business requires risk, the bigger the risk, the bigger the return.

This does raise an important issue - being overly dependant on one relationship is bad news for any business. What happens if you are sending your favourite network all your traffic and they go bust leaving you over $27K in the hole, and no reserve to pay your bills? This has happened in literally dozens of cases that I know of in the offline world, and I'm sure AM is no more stable, particularly with the amounts of cash the networks are moving around.
As WayneDog says, taking calculated risks is part of progress with a business, but if you've got a cosy relationship with someone it's far too easy to forget the risk you're running. Profits are meaningless if you can't collect the cash in time to pay the rent.

uh, that's why I decided to push traffic to copeac. Aren't they a reputable company? Yes, I think they are. It shouldn't be considered a huge risk. Some of you guys are acting like I put all my money into the stock market or some high risk opportunity. This isn't the case at all. Really it's a business to business relationship. I'm selling a service, which happens to be generating leads. Trust me, if a company did try and keep money like this from me, they are def. going to have some legal problems coming their way. $27k isn't change. That's more than a lot of ppl make in a year.
If you are a smart affiliate marketer you know that if you find a campaign that is giving you a good ROI you should be trying to come up with any money you can to keep the campaign going. It would be stupid not to...

Try telling your bank you can't pay a $15,000 negative balance because some network hasn't paid you yet. You'll get a call from some VP threatening to turn your ass over to the states atty and collection lawyers. I've owned 2 brick and mortars, I've been in this position and it's not fun. It's bad business no matter how you try to justify it. I made the mistake of overextending exactly one time... never again.
I'm sure most of you use credit cards, and I'm sure you all have balances that allow you to overextend a little. That's fine. If it's your only source of cash however, and you have no other sources to draw from to pay your normal expenses, you have done something totally wrong. Try doing that in a publicly held company and see what happens.

Anyone who has ever run a business before knows you have cash reserves or a line of credit you can tap into for situations such as this.

Wow, I didn't even know it was possible to go 15K negative in a bank account. The most I've ever gone negative was a few hundred because I had forgotten about the account after moving, there was some auto debit and they billed me 10 bucks a day for every day it was negative. I'm surprised they didn't start declining the charges before it amounted to 15K.
You can go negative for a lot more than $15K. My situation was a customer's check that had bounced, and I had already paid for hardware, so I was up shits creek. Took 2 weeks to refund the hardware and the bank worked with me, but still, they never let me raise my line of credit again. That was 4 years ago.
You make a very good point in general about not putting all your eggs in one basket, especially in this business. Copeac is one of my top networks and usually where I send a majority of my traffic but by no means is it the only network I have money coming in from at any particular time. I like to have at least 4 wires from 4 different networks hitting my bank every week to feel comfortable, just in case I have an issue with any one of them regarding payment for one reason or another.
bb_wolfe i'd have to say you are wrong bud. If he knew he wasn't going to be paid then maybe he wouldn't have put all his eggs in one basket. The point you are missing is that he said he was told he was on wires for 3 weeks straight...expecting a payment. The point is that he has all eggs in one basket due to the AM not communicating appropriately on what was going on.
you should be mad at your am, not copeac. he didnt set up right. so you didnt get paid. Sucks, but you should have just figured it out over the phone
