Looking for Wordpress themes with no sponsored footer links

2. Free theme, manually remove the footprints.

Yea, check out the terns, some free ones don't spell out the requirement for credit, such cases you can just edit it out of footer.php. Some commercial and semi-pro charge a registration fee for the remove footer password.
I take out the wordpress link too.

Yea if I don't want 50 links to someones fucking Viagra PPC sites, I check the source of the wordpress them in action (with their shitty links). Replace the encoded footer code with the clean stuff minus the links...

In theme editor open up footer.php and find the text and remove it.

Just go in and comment them out. Example: <!-- This theme was created by your mom -->

That's what I used to do when I didn't buy themes. However, buying themes is almost always worth it.

And some in attempt to confuse the noobs have this big ass base64/gzip encoded footer that tries to prevent people from changing it... when all you gota do is cut and past the html source from the browser over the big ass encoded block and change accordingly.

You can remove footers even from paid themes, since Wordpress is GPL. The exception is if the theme is not making use of any of the functionalities of Wordpress, which is not likely.
