After a very frustrating week, I decided to try a simple dating offer. I noticed its converting extremely well according to the network numbers (18k clicks / 15k leads). I sent some Myspace traffic to it direct linking as I'm sure everyone else is doing and out of 64 clicks I got 0 leads.

Am I missing something or what?
 


64 clicks is nothing.

Also, what demographic are you targeting? Males 18-65? That's shitty. Lonely star wars fans in the 29-35 bracket? You're more likely to get a few leads.

EDIT: Wait, 64 clicks in one week? On Myspace? You're doing something wrong.
 
I realize 64 clicks is nothing but when you see that the offer is converting at 1 in every 1.24 clicks I would think that I would have at least had a few conversions after 64 clicks. I did target a younger audience after I took a look at quantcast and noticed that was the demo that hit the site the most. But I noticed people advertising it on myspace for the same demo that has been running for a while so I would think that it would convert.

I don't know, maybe the don't like the younger demo, but I still think I should have got at least 1 conversion.

No 64 clicks in a about an hour. Just saying that I'm having a shitty week all the way around.
 
64 clicks with no leads can totally happen. There are tons of variables that could have thrown it off. The people converting at 1 out of 1.24 clicks probably have it pretty dialed in. It's all about matching the right traffic with the right offer. It takes a lot of experimentation and analysis to get it converting. Just keep jammin away, you'll figure something out.
 
No doubt. Back to the drawing board.

I wonder if there is a cap on it. When I click on the link while logged into the network its redirecting to another offer but my affiliate URL is not. That's weird.

Some people use the contextual link instead of the regular one, so the clicks actually track as views, which is what's probably happening with those network stats.

No dating offer is converting at like 90% network wide.

Just like any other place on earth. There are morons on the internet that market things... Just because an ad has been running for a long time does not necessarily mean it converts well.

It can be a good indication of it.. but some people just don't know when to quit or are happy with that 1% ROI they are getting. Just a thought
 
I have had dating offers that convert 1:7 consistent (100k clicks). But at the same time i would see 100 clicks without a lead. But then see 10 clicks in a row convert. So its kinda all chance in a way. Just because you sent 64 clicks doesn't mean it should convert.
 
take statistics.. if u generate 1000000 random numbers which are all either 1 or 0, you will get parts like this:

00101010101011100101 < looks random
and then suddenly 0100000000000000000000000000000000000000111001

it's just bound to happen. that's why everyone stresses that you gotta spend money to make money. you need more data.

I wasn't kidding about that. I'm not advertising dating offers anymore, so I'll give you guys a little piece of advice:

You know the common stereotype that nerds are lonely and insecure? It's completely true. I did some extensive demographics testing on Facebook, and my top performing groups were targeting users interested in World of Warcraft, Star Wars, and Anime. They generated 10-15 times as many leads as my simple age-targeted groups.

So yeah, go ahead and use that if you'd like.
