My google conversions say 30 in my adwords account. In my affiliate network account it says i have 20 conversions. My AM says it "could" be duplicate leads but he seemed very unsure. Is this normal?

An affiliate manager once told me that if people hit the refresh button or the back and then forward buttons on the conversion page, Google will double count the conversion.

No it's not that.

Here's the scenario: Someone clicks your ad in Google, goes to your LP, clicks to the merchant page, then has second thoughts and bounces. They then do some more searching, find another affiliate's landing page, click through their link and actually buy. Google counts that as a conversion for you, because they have no idea whether that person bought right away from you or someone else.

All Google cares about is that the customer clicked on your adwords link, and then the pixel fired on the sale page. Anything that happens in between Big G doesn't give a shit about.

As long as the person who came to your website still has the same cookie on his computer, Google will not count the conversions several times. No matter how often that person "buys" from you (i.e. gets to the landing page with your conversion pixel). However, it will be counted as several "transactions". You can see the transactions of your campaigns when you generate a report in Google Adwords.

In other words, in your regular adwords interface Google won't show several conversion from the same user. There is only 1 conversion per user..
