Today, Michael Phelps was suspended for three months from competing. Also, Kellogg announced that they won't be renewing his sponsorship deal. That, and the media shitstorm. All because of a picture of him smoking pot.

In other news, 40 years ago, Ted Kennedy got drunk and drove off a bridge, killing a woman (who he left to drown and did not report until the following day). He's still a senator, and alcohol is still legal.

God this is so fucking ridiculous.

I hope phelps becomes the poster child for legalization.

ya digg~!

One would think this would help to defeat the "it makes you lazy/destroys your lungs" argument. I don't think you can win 14 gold medals for swimming with bum lungs and no motivation.

He's lucky the country is so fucked up, otherwise they'd be devoting entire news shows to it.

He was NBC's darling during the Olympics and now I think they are a little embarrassed. I notice that they report the story, make little if no comment and move on to the next piece.

Wonder what all the other great American athletes are thinking, knowing that they too could be "found out", whatever their proclivity, and regardless of past performance it can all be flushed away by other fearful Americans pointing their finger hoping that they TOO will not be found out. haha

Where are all the hipocrates, like Spitzer or that judgmental pill popping moron Rush Limbaugh, on this thing?

I come hear to see a fucking picture and I don't see a fucking picture (good thing I already saw it or I'd be 10x more pissed).

GTFO

I heard somewhere that for every door that closes for those types celebs, several more open.. His "perceived value" just skyrocketed with the "in crowd" celebs, the R&B gang, the hipsters, young and powerful Hollywood, young web entrepreneurs, you name it.. Lots of folks, who'd otherwise not be interested in the young, white swimmer from suburbia, are now talking about him, reading about him, and learning more about him..

Imagine his new exposure, and the new line of sponsors from other markets (i.e. not cereal) that are going to line up to snatch up deals..

That $100mm will probably turn into 3-5xs that, not a bad ROI..

Pleasepleaseplease phelps sponsored cannabis seed offer.

I was thinking about this today...someone edgy should pick him up as a sponsor...I can't think of who at the moment, but they're out there.

This whole story makes me so effing mad - WTF?! It's hash not crack cocaine, meth or something else. Call me a hippy (not) but anything a doctor can legally prescribe in some states or that is grown in the ground should not be taken so seriously. It's bullshit. I think he should have maybe been given a slap on the wrist (at best) but not all this rubbish. This really sucks. He's a human being not a fucking saint. I don't know what the big deal is about it any way....

The Native Americans smoke the stuff in spiritual ceremonies....lol

No but seriously this is just wrong.....
