Hey guys,

I just wanted to get your opinion on something that the affiliate managers obviously wouldn't give an honest opinion to.

We are a company that currently has a few Free Trial offers out on various affiliate networks. One is exclusive but all the others are on about 5 other networks. Now every network wants us to go exclusive with them, and I'm just wondering for you guys (the publishers) if there is any added benefit to YOU for a advertiser like me to go exclusive?

If there is nothing really beneficial to it then I think we are gunna stick our offers on about 5 more networks over the next few weeks...

Let me know your opinion.

Thanks!

Well really the answer could be yes or no based on the details of your offer, it seems far too vague right now to give an answer.

As a pub there are certain networks I see a better conversion on the same offers for when testing... why I dont know.. but if the same off is on say Market Leverage and Maxbounty, Id run it on Max because it always converts better there then ML.. for ME.

If the offer is only on one network and it converts well the network can take a bigger cut because the affiliates will still promote even though it would get even MORE promotion if they took less of a cut.

There is no benefit to publishers I would say and unless the network promises to really push the offer for you I would imagine you would see less revenue working with just one network. It would also be less of a hassle for you though.

Hey Pokerface, I'm from a network and I'll give you an honest answer.

There is really only one big benefit to you as an advertiser by going exclusive with a network. You have more control over who gets to run your offer. The network won't give you the names of the affiliates that are running your campaign, but lets say you pull publisher #13324 from you campaign, you'll know that publisher won't be able to go to another network and run your campaign again without your knowledge because your campaign isn't on another network.

Well really it depends on your model. If someone gives us an exclusive on something, and it's good, I'm going to put a lot more work into getting the word out about it. Vs. if you give it to us on an exclusive I put in a lot of work to get the word out about the offer and try and figure out how to make it work. But if you're already on 5 networks no reason not to give it to a bunch more.

The one thing I ask if you're going to run your offer on a bunch of different networks is keep the mids seperate by network. I've been fucked a few times by other networks sending shit traffic and it being blended in mids.

From a publishers perspective if a bunch of networks have it I can squeeze them for smaller and smaller margins playing them against each other so a lot of times it benefits me.

If you decide to to go with multiple networks my advice is to do what the wuyi guys did with acai burn and put an upper limit on the affiliate payout with a contract. That way you will slow down affiliates who are trying to increase their margins but also keep the networks honest by making them compete against each other.
