Waiting to get accepted to a couple of affiliate networks so I can start my road to making some bank.

I just wanted to know what is a reasonable amount of money to put in for PPC like adwords and yahoo search marketing. :jester:

The short answer, $1000-$10000 if you want to run a few campaigns, split-test and statistical significance. Depends on your niche.

3.. 2... 1... flames

I've been trying to get started on about $50/day. This said, I have so far been unsuccessful with PPC.

From what I've seen so far, though, it seems like money is mainly an accelerator -- a way to increase speed. By this I mean that at $50/day, it might take me several days to get enough data to be statistically significant and see if something works or not. If I were willing to spend more, I could probably get that data in a day, and thus be profitable in a much shorter period of time.

Also, you have to spend more if you're going for more lucrative offers. Stuff that has high payouts (e.g. $30+ diet rebill offers) also seems to have the keywords bid up much higher, so it's more expensive to get into. You can't find $0.10 clicks on acai and colon keywords (well, I can't, but take that with a grain of salt since as I said, my PPC efforts have so far been losers -- my successful sites are all SEO.) If you're spending $2-3 per click, then $50/day won't get you enough data to know anything, so it may be better to start with lower-payout offers.

Overall, though, it seems like the $50/day I'm spending is about the bare minimum to get data (and I'm bidding on 5- to 20-cent keywords), and may actually be a bit below the minimum.

Try several weeks

Depends on your budget, best is too start with at least a few k. Don't focus too much in the very beginning on amounts, re-invest for a while your profits and learn the game.

That's a really general question but listen, It's better to save up some money, learn some common knowledge and spend a good amount wisely. Instead of taking a little bit, blowing it all on a crappy campaign and coming to the conclusion the PPC is a piece of shit.

If you don't want to pay for any coaching, these forums help a lot too. Talk to your AM. If he's a normal person, which they tend to be, they will tell you which offers to promote and maybe even tell you a little bit about how.

I got lucky and started with 2k, I spent about $1100 before I started breaking even / making money.

But these results are not typical and you could spend more before breaking even, I have 4 years of professional web design experience that helped a lot getting started.

it depends a lot on what you are trying to accomplish too. and not only that, but what your sources are. if you are promoting the exact same fucking acai real estate viagra porno ticket that everyone and their mother's puppydog are promoting...then you are going to find the more common 'channels' of advertising that product are going to be HIGHLY congested and difficult to profit from.

on the flip side of things, if you have access to unique channels, then maybe you CAN scrap a good profit off of the same offers everyone else are doing....

or if you OWN your OWN product, then you just have to make people buy it =)

Evreybody gets different results from spending in PPC search advertising, so you would have to use trial and error method, a good rule of thumb is, can you afford to spend the money with nil returns?

You should spend $0 on PPC if you are a beginnner to internet marketing.

PPC might seem like an easy way to get traffic for beginnners, but if you dont know what you're doing, you will end up losing all your money. And still wont know what you're doing. Then you'll moan that PPC doesnt work...

Keep your hard earned money in the bank and study SEO and SEM techniques first.

When starting out, you do not have to speculate to accumulate with internet marketing.

Once you have grasped the fundamentals of SEO/SEM, then should you consider moving into the PPC route afterwards. You'll probably find that you will have a better time with PPC when you've gained experience in generating traffic from other sources first. It will make you more aware of costings and return on investments in general and less lilely to blow your PPC budget in 1 week.
