Don't upgrade to Wordpress 2.8!

I upgraded one of my sites and haven't had any issues yet. I love Wordpress, but I can't ever figure out why they would hastily release software without making sure it worked across every platform. Especially when it's not much different from the previous.

crap, i read this too late...

Also, the redirection plugin isn't compatible and will break your site if you upgrade with it activated. if you did, delete the plugin with your FTP client...

If you're having trouble with visual editor, go to tools -> upgrade -> reinstall 2.8. Then clear your cache. I did this and no probs with FF anymore. The new widgets layout looks nice, but I'm sure I'll find all kinds of other bugs soon.

Or if your not a dumbass like me, save yourself the headache and wait a couple weeks for the new upgrade with bug fixes to be released

I had visual editor issues until I deactivated all my plugins and then activated one at a time. I tested along the way and everything is good again. Plugins are usually the first thing that has problems on any upgrade.

On that note I hate the plugin interface on 2.8. 2.7 was perfect and I do not know why they changed it. Also I notice that on the page editor the stuff on the sidebar like template selector is now in the main content area.

Personally these upgrades piss me off with WP because they have no schedule of release or only release every 6 months.

I found how to fix the glitches during the upgrade process.

1. Do not use the auto-upgrade (upload the files via FTP)
2. Log into the WP Admin Panel
3. Upgrade Database
4. Deactivate all Plugins
5. Make sure the files permissions are properly set in FTP 775/777 whatever u like
6. Activate Plugins and you should be able to use without any major problems..

Everything works for me when I upgraded.

2.8 also automatically installs plugins, themes, and everything without having to use the file transfer (like filezilla client)
