Central Coast, NSW here.

Even if you open a US dollar account somewhere and do your transactions there, if you need to pull the money out into Aussie dollars eventually you are still subject to exchange risk.

If you are earning big then you can get paid weekly like hannah described. Some weeks you might lose 3% on the currency, some weeks you might gain it, but I think getting the shortest time period possible between expenditure and receiving the cash is the best way to minimise the risk.

I get all my stuff paypal and transfer money to my aussie account. It is fast and cheap. I also pay for ysm thru paypal.

Dam just took my first cheque to the bank, They said they have to send it back to the USD to verify it and don't expect a deposit for at least 21 days.
What have you Aussies found the minimum to be before networks will wire the cash directly?

There isn't really a set minimum for Net15 or Net30 wires. But for weeklies it's usually $1000 revenue/week. Chat to your AM. They will sort you out.

ANZ clear my USD cheques in 5-7 days, always have done. Used to cost $10 per cheque, now its $15.

I have been told revenue of $1000 to get wires. So $1000 per month for monthly, $1000 per week for weekly. But it differs for each network. I just got a wire, costs 7.50 AUD and the exchange rate seems pretty good
