I'm looking into ad networks and there are a few things I'm unfamiliar with. what are keywords used for? how can anyone possibly get 500 keywords on a single subject?

on 7search, what is "top bid" "bid #2" "bid #3"? is it like, whoever gets bid #2 gets more traffic than the people who bid on 3,4,5?

This is what I understand so far:
Say I want to make a site about 'X'. I make a site with references to 'X' throughout the text on the page(including the title/h1 tags etc). Now I goto 7search and look for a keyword that doesn't cost too much, but is related to the subject right? I don't want to bid on the exact keyword b/c it costs too much so I choose one similar to it. is that right?

yeah, basic gist seems to be right. You can still bid on the keyword that costs too much, just put a low bid that you think is about right(you might not get much traffic because you are #17, but hey, mine as well keep it there in case there is the rare one or two people that click on it) people can get 500+ keyword lists because they bid on literally everything. for something like grocery shopping, they might bid on shopping, grocery shopping, shopping cart(actually maybe not on this, but just an example), and even mispellings that are common such as shoping and grocery shopping....there are a LOT of possibilities...A&P, shoprite, pathmark,..convenient store, ...not sure cant think this late, but you get the point

i'm still a little confused about bidding on the keywords. say you got keywords x, y, z.

say
x = $.01
y = $.02
z = $.03

If someone makes a search and clicks on my link which is 'y', I pay $.02 right? Bidding on 200 vs bidding on 500 keywords doesn't change how much I pay until they start clicking right?

also, what is a MFA site?

yeah.

generally when people are able to make money(as oppose to simply lose money from the clicks), they want more and more traffic, which is why they bid on 500 and not 200

MFA = Made For Adsense

Those are the spammy sites that have no useful content but a shitload of ads. Sometimes they do arbi as well, but I think it is more common that they rely on Search Engine traffic only.
