I'm not talking about just creating press releases and distributing to 100s of sites with the hopes of one of the major news outlets picking up the story, I'm talking about someone who knows how to create a long term strategy for getting free press.

It's almost back to school time, and I want to really have my site break out of the pack this year. I'd like to see it featured on TV, in the newspaper, other websites as a reliable source for high school students to go to in order to improve their grades.

If anyone thinks they are cut out for this job, please get in touch with me with some of your ideas on how you'll accomplish this.

Thanks,
-Chris

A good press release and gimmick is really all you need. I've personally got (and so did my past clients) tons of basic news coverage (tv/newspaper), from a single release.

I don't do PR stuff anymore, but I know a few people who still do. I'll see if they're available and if they are I'll send them here.

Whats the real need? Are you looking to market your site? If you could provide some more details then perhaps there could be someone out here to help you out

Yes, I'm looking to market my website nationwide. Given the timing of the article (back to school) and the quality of the website, I think if we were able to come up with a good angle (theres a bunch of choose) we can definitely get some coverage.

In case you didnt know, I run a high school resource website that provides free notes, outlines, practice quizzes and other material to help students improve their grades and reduce the amount of time they need to study. The website is Course-Notes.Org - Outlines, Notes, Vocabulary, Essays, DBQs, Practice Quizzes and much more! | if you want to check it out.

1) Create a product about some hot topic in your niche. Than go and create an opt-in page that only uses Twitter. (Basically for them to get the product they must tweet a special message like @clkeenan has a new super cool site go here url.com)

If enough people start doing it it'll take off and become extremely viral.

2) Have a contest where your 80,000+ forum memebers must create an essay on some hot topic like "health care reform". And you'll pick the top five winners and give them each 300 bucks or something.

News stations would LOVE to see tons of young people writing about such a hot topic. If it takes off enough you could even assemble a panel to go over and pick the best essay.

I can see, using that idea, getting on CNN. They love shit like that it seems.

Just some lost cost and pretty automated ideas,

Eric
