Most of the time they can not be bothered with the hassle and a lot of times they have several ads on rotation. They have around $10,000 - $15,000 coming from one placement on the site.

Any quality news site will have media buys with a minimum budget of $20k+

Unless you know your product converts well and that the traffic will equal out to a certain amount per click I wouldn't do it. Stick with the small stuff first and learn how to track media buys.
