Smart, very clever. To the aff who's hitting LP emails/comment forms with 'FTC Compliance Investigation' with an IP that resolves to a 'residence hall at a University' kudos.

Smart ploy to knock out competition and I applaud (and thank) you for it.

For those seeing odd things (I've gotten several) like that run a lookup on the IP.

lol.. so this kid built a bot to scare other affiliates.. nice.. I wonder how much time that took him

it's not me doing it, but would take maybe 10 mins to code if you already got an ad scraper. it really ain't no thang. could just keyword match some lp's html and fire off emails to the whois email addys.

that said, who says its a bot? he could just be bcc'ing by hand or mail merge.

haha-definately wicked

Could be bcc by hand, but thats gotta be slow. Either way, you dont find too many more flogs out there, so this kids? really in-depth (or phantom sophisticated) ;)

IF you guys see a bunch of hits coming to your website from the referral URL of ftc.gov/intern/casework/c2b920u45s9/view.php?item=ExhibitB don't freak out, it's just me.

From my understanding if you are on their hit list they're not going to warn you. The one time I got a call it was to gather information against a client that was already named in a case. If you are worried, dig a hole in your backyard and put $20k in it or get an escrow acct with your lawyer b/c when they come your bank accts get frozen along with all your assets.

I read this in Bill the Butcher's voice. It was quite funny.
