For those of you who who don't often take the chance to look at the trends in affiliate marketing from a more scholarly point of view, then read this article on the past and present food fads in America.

American Food Fads

An interesting quote about food marketers:

…sociologist Daniel Bell called attention to the tendency of capitalism in its single-minded pursuit of profit, to erode the various cultural underpinnings that steady society but often impede the march of commercialization.

thanks for the link- The Omnivore's Dilema is not only a great read period, but should be required reading for anyone in the supp/diet space.

I remember like 15 years ago when "Oat Bran" was all the rage. If you didn't eat oat bran you were going to get a heart attack and die. Probably today. EAT YOUR GOD DAMN OAT BRAN ALREADY!

Also eggs. They were bad for us. Then good for us. Then bad for us. Then good for us. I think they are currently bad for us again.

this would probably be true for some products but AM advertised acai has created a HUGE amount of bad publicity with all of the rebills.. i doubt acai will have a major upcoming again because of this. word travels fast

No it'll be goji berries, or a new discovery in the Omega chain, or the miracle of some isolated 'secret' from a soybean that makes the japanese thin, love living, and loving kinky sex, etc etc etc.

Sheeples are far too stupid to not fall for the same thing over and over and over and over - that is- pay money and get healthy/skinny/beautiful.

Hundreds or thousands of years of that isn't going to change ANY time soon, just the delivery mechanism.

The part that everyone here is missing is that the food culture in America has a history of being unstable, making American consumers especially susceptible to the behavior you mention.

In other countries with a stable diet based off of tradition and natural inclinations, the fad is less likely to be accepted as in the United States and similar countries with an unsettled food culture.

i thought he was talking about a reinvigoration of the "acai" craze, which i doubt will ever happen. of course something will come and take its place, thats just how it works

The acai craze is still going strong... just not online. I see products advertised in magazines all the time.

trends are saying that acai has significantly gone downhill in the united states and canada over the past few months. mostly why its been taken internationally and to males.

Affiliate marketing trends? What about the commercialization of the actual juice. Someone just posted a link the other day to where Walmart was destroying it selling real juice (if you read the ingredients it isn't even pure though lol).

You're right!

definitely a downward trend... it's all over for acai...

No it's not. You just don't know how to make it convert. And no, I don't care if you believe me. In fact, you're right! It IS all over for acai, you should move on to something else and decrease the competition.

Nice... I see you missed the sarcasm in my post.

Perhaps you should take a moment to actually read (and think about) what people write before you jump in with a half-assed comment... you halfwit.
