There was a post earlier about being called "Sir" by Indian help desk people, but one thing that REALLY pisses me off is sales letters and landing pages that start with "Dear friend..."
Where I come from when a stranger calls you "friend" or "buddy" (eg. you looking at something friend?), it means that something violent is about to happen... possibly involving a pint glass or a pool que.
I also get a lot of lovely letters from Nigerian widows who want to give me a lot of money. These also often start with "Dear friend.."
Has anybody done any split testing? I'm willing to bet conversions will increase without that Gods damned Dear Friend bullshit intro! You might as well say "I'm gonna scam you" or "I'm gonna sell you an overpriced crappy ebook"
