blaming one political party for the fact that your company laid you off is bullshit.

change your mentality and start being a fucking winner. making a lot of money in life is pretty easy, having the cajones to believe in YOURSELF AND be willing to work harder than you ever have before takes a discipline that few have yet everyone wants.

and don't take this as me flaming you, but your current 'victim' state of thinking will lead you nowhere. if you have a skill- exploit it. accept all outcomes as caused by you alone. stop blaming, and start profiting. good luck.
 


With that amount of money saved I would say you need to get real serious real fast.

Talk to your spouse without the kids on how to change the budget drastically now.

Cut way past where it hurts. Do it now.

Buy food in bulk and unprocessed foods like eggs, potatoes, rice, veggies. Bulk meats that you can eat for a few meals like hamburger in spaghetti burgers etc.

Cancel everything you dont absolutely need. But keep your appearance up with a phone for resume numbers, internet for job searching, dry cleaning a few good outifts.

And start the paperwork for any unemployment Monday.

Cancel newpaper, cable, luxuries, and start looking for money in IRAs, insurance policies, you might need it.

There are no jobs in newspapers really. Use monster.com and networking.

Because whether it's the economy, the President, market changes, your mean company, or your heartless boss you WILL NEVER BE SECURE OR GET RICH with a normal job.

You also can never rely on social security, retirement plans, or any of that crap.

1. File for unemployment (But don't be surprised if you don't get it for months and months).

2. Find a full or part time job to support your family and keep you from developing an ulcer.

3. Supplement that motherfucker with freelance writing but make time for your own shit.

4. Develop your own company/sites/campaigns/skills/investments until you can give the finger to the corporate rat race.

5. Sleep easy at night and wake up with more money in the morning.
 
It's probably going to sound contrived but focus on one thing you are really good at and sell it. I assume you do write content, so market the hell out of yourself everywhere(forums, elance, odesk, etc) even if you have to go for lower prices. There is no sense in wallowing over being fired.

Put up a thread in here i'm sure some people will buy content from you, I'd buy 5 or 10 articles for a discount.

That's really good advice about focusing. Pick one thing you like to do and think there is a reasonable chance of getting a job now.

Make your resume, outfit, demanor and job search match that goal. Make it your goal so you seem enthusiastic. And have a bunch of stories to talk about how much you love that. And dont try to be the jack of all trades. It wont work usually and definetly not in this environment.

Make an easy to understand story about who you are, what you want, and where you are going. That works for whatever interview you have from jobs to university, Masters degrees, networking groups, whatever.

If on some days you need another focused resume or cover for one job you can make it.
 
What does this company that fired you do exactly?

Can you somehow make $$ on your own in their industry? Selling leads, selling their products or services, etc?

It can be begin of make millions of dollars from affiliate marketing because now no have work for boss.

Or can start own business and work for self. Many creator of million or even billion dollar company only start company because lose job.

Sorry to hear your loss man. If you really want to get into Internet marketing but money is tight- stay off facebook for now and try SEO with ePN. all you need to have is a website with hosting, wordpress and a2p plugin (I highly recommend this plugin. search wf for it).

Having a family changes everything. I would be looking for new job or a way to freelance your income asap. I do campaigns fulltime, but I have enough money set aside that I can go a year without profitability and still be "fine" (maybe not mentally)

That being said, you should be able to test on a small budget. Maybe try some of the lower cpa lead gen stuff or download products. Even mobile.. Something like $10 cpa. This is good because you can test with a lot lower budget. With $10 cpa, you can test on $50 without much problem.

Most of your competition is looking to crush it on an offer. So a lot of them will have pretty unrestricted demographic targeting, dayparting, and targeting a lot more. I would say you want to get to profitability as fast as possible so keep those fairly tight from the getgo. For instance on fb, target keywords and such, not just male 25-50.
 
Sorry to hear about your job.

Tax high street to give to wall street is a recipe for disaster. So fucking simple. Taxes means reduction in profit, a hindrance on growth -> need to cut back on expenses -> job losses to keep the company operating.

Best solution? A stimulus package to create useless unproductive government paid jobs (I believe the previous package cost $300k per job?) where the pay is taken from the taxes of productive companies, and hard working people. (keeping it simpler without involving the money creation which taxes on future earnings). FUCK government, we need smaller governance and less interference.
 
As a side note, it's threads like this that motivate me to work hard on my affiliate marketing business so I never have to deal with this job bs.

Just to let you guys know, I am actively looking for a new job. I am also going to get some threads up offering my writing services on a few forums, but I cannot write for less than .02 cents per word. Sorry, but I just cant write for less than that. It might limit my ability to get clients, but at this point I just cant do it for less.

I thought I was done with the grunt work of writing and had graduated to other aspects of marketing, but you do what you have to do.

I'll be honest and admit I didn't read this thread - but man your in a good position to spend some of this free time making some money to take some of the stress off.

If you've got a writing gig do it.

If you don't - do a little keyword research, buy a domain, install wordpress and start writing.

Scrape some content, along with your original content.

Spend a few hours building links for it.

Let it sit. Build a link now and then.

Need money later? Sell it. Don't need money later? Keep it and what it earns.

Crap - the content is the hardest part of all that. Most of us have to deal with writers to get the stuff written and it's a pain in the ass. In your case - you are the writer. You should be churning your own thing out.
