I hate to give away my secrets, but anyone else promoting software?

Stupid Question -

Why would google ban your account for promoting legit software? What was the reason they gave you?

damn thats really good idea

It's also really deceptive and would yield short-term profits at best.

Just think ... if some of ya'll spent as much time building a real business as you do thinking of ways to scam people, you could be real ballers!

Its the same song and dance. If you are an affiliate google will ban you. Except for those who have not been caught yet, only merchants advertising directly are still in this space. Read the revenuewire forum..you'll get the idea. MSN & yahoo are still kicking though.

A lot of affiliates were not promoting this in a legit way (all those fake you have a virus messages, etc) and got a ton of complaints from users.

^ more misinformation in this forum. I don't think Goog cares for affiliates but there are more than enough affiliates still doing very well with them.

I don't believe affiliates would do anything deceptive :D

Especially those thuper-duper affiliates on segways!

Yea.... I like everything getting re-directed to Webfetti better anyways

I once saw a fucking wonderful lander for a fake antivirus. It was a webpage, but it totally resembled the look and feel of Windows fucking Explorer, the My Computer layout. And it showed red marks next to "my" hard drives and said it found a few viruses and popped out a nice dialog box asking if I want to check it thoroughly with the fake antivirus.

I work with computers for 15 years but almost believed it. It was so fucking real. The only reason I did not click that button was that I saw the standard Firefox tabs and controls above. If it was IE, I'm damn sure I'd click.

OK, so my original post wasn't about deceptive or fake advertising of software at all, while I'm sure that works quite well, I've had shit-tons success doing things like "Scan For Errors, Click Here Now" - which isn't even thoughtful marketing, it was basically just filler text.

Edit: also, FUCK REGISTRY CLEANERS. Think media.

I saw that shit too, it kinda freaks you out when you see all these status bars going up and down saying that they're scanning your computer, and then found all these trojans and viruses etc. Looked so fuckin real, and the good ones give you a bit of a sense of panic. For the common sheeple, they would definitely click to get rid of that shit. If I wasn't in affiliate marketing, I would have bought it.

I work in the IT department for my company and our users are always calling in about that shit. Then they dont believe me when I tell them to click the X and close it.
