Hi all,
I want to move to South America to be with my fiance who I met whilst traveling, last time I was there I worked online doing application support via Skype, it didn't pay much but I didn't need much as their exchange rate with the USA was so low and I was earning US dollars.

Now that my old position has been filled I'm wondering if you would recommend affiliate marketing for when I go back. My background is 4 years support in IT and a relevant qualification so I have a good understanding of HTML and other web technologies, particularly Linux and I have good business sense mixed with good communication skills.

So I've read the Noobycakes guide, it doesn't seem hard to set up it's just the risk involved which worries me, if I aimed low at about $30-$50 a day whilst working 40 hour weeks would I be likely to start turning over a profit fairly quickly?

Not looking for an absolute answer as that would be impossible but peoples opinions and recommendations for a low-risk low-turnover project.

Cheers in advance

Lol, NoobyCakes.

Best I can tell you is that if you're going the route of SEO, then no it won't happen quickly. If you're paying for traffic, you'll need to have some saved up because you'll lose it in the beginning. And whichever way you choose, it'll never be consistent income. I don't know if I like the idea of moving to another country and then trying this for the first time.

Oh and then there's the issue of being accepted into networks and paid while in another country. Don't know what kind of obstacles you'll run into but sign up while you still have an address in a developed country.

It takes more than brass balls to fail a PPC campaign and still have a go at it.

Expect to lose money, some lost 15 G's and quit. Will you? Most def. not for the faint of heart.

AM is like slinging drugs crack cocaine, just harder.

It can be done I'm sure, but the odds are weighted heavily against you with that kind of budget.

You can do all of the following for less than a couple hundred bucks:

Build out a site with popshops, wfreview or any of the other wordpress plugins. Learn on-site and off-site SEO. Install Google analytics, google sitemaps, all-in-one seo plugins, etc. Build quality links. Parlay that money into another vertical. Rinse and repeat.

Good luck bro : )

It won't be easy to do via ppc or SEO.

Honestly, if you are good at writing content, then I would recommend trying to get writing gigs to make some cash. You could use your down time to start writing content for your own blogs and build that up.

Think of it this way. If you can sign up for a network is $20 pay outs... you only have to sell 2 a day.

Can you figure out to sell 2 offers a day consistently? Lenses? Twitter? Forums?

Another option is being a personal assistant for a US company. You could get a min. wage job for 5 hours of your day and then use the other time to build your own blog.

In fact if you are a decent writer, you could pick blog niches you care about (making it easier) and generate enough traffit to sell 2 offers a day eventually =).

Best of luck bro. I have considered moving to argentina and living on a lower wage, but for now California will have to do.

PPC would be the way to go, but doing it while living off the proceeds from day one would put you under mad pressure, which would likely lead to mistakes.
You should get a `day job` while you work on your ppc skills. I know squat about south america but could you setup websites for businesses there? Must be a demand for a skilled tecchie guy somewhere..? Maybe target fellow americans living there?

if anyone actually lost that amount of money they should be destroyed from this earth. start with social advertising and build bankroll. dont wager a whole lot at first so you can gage what works and what doesnt. Once you find what you have is working, scale to the universe.

If you have held a job in the past and if you have whole week to work on PPC, I see no reason why you should not make 100 a day easily.. Time is the only enemy for people with full time job and they still turn a few G's a week working nights and weekends.

Take one Offer. Chose a good offer that will not die out. And work away... No Zip Submits or rebills... Something good. Education (not grants but online education), Auto Insurance, Rental cars.. chose anything and build a good site.. And then do PPC and facebook.. Don't do anything grey for now.. Memorize their TOS. Test like crazy...

Thanks for your comments, they're appreciated and all have been taken into consideration. I'm interested in what YellowWriter mentioned about blogging, I have a photography blog which I started a couple of weeks ago as a hobby and so I can blog my future travels, it's here: HDR Guru and it's already picking up a few hits.

Do you think it is possible to make a turnaround on something like this? Only problem is that it's currently on wordpress.com I think I would have to export it to godaddy or another host....

Where in south america? I pretty much spend all my time here jumping from country to country every few months

You could always write articles and ewhore to make $30 a day.

Cool, I have a place in Sucre - Bolivia. I'm returning in March, if you're in the area message me so we can get drunk and sing karaoke. If you haven't been there it's a beautiful city and really cheap, definitely worth checking out.

@ Rajuthan, cheers mate, I have taken your advice and purchased a Godaddy account, only problem I'm having is that I couldn't get that template to work and am modifying another one which is pretty nice though. Thanks for the pointers.

@CaptainPwnage: I am actually heading to Bolivia sometime during April. I decided to take my time and go by land through Uruguay/Nth Arg/Paraguay then Santa Cruz etc with my destino being La Paz to visit a friend there.

Awesome! I am planning to fly into Buenos Aires and travel overland back to Sucre, arriving in early April. Can't wait tbh!

Isn't ewhoring somewhat illegal though because you are in a way defrauding guys by pretending to be a woman lol?

I would stay away from that, there are plenty of ways to make legitimate money online without having to act like a woman & fraud people.

Writing articles for Associated Content is easy, you could probably make $20 - $30 a day doing that, but your fingers might get tired lol.

Also you could try those survey sites, even though I haven't had much success with them personally I've seen other people who have made $15 - $25 a day doing a bunch of surveys and clicking on stuff.
