i have seen a few guides mentioning wordpress as a good way to make your first buck online. neither mentioned any seo or keyword related subjects. does it mean that i need to trust my luck to bring traffic from search engines? (my luck usually wanders in some distant wastelands)

how much better is wordpress compared to blogger, and why? can't i use these guides and implement it in blogger?

I like wordpress because of all the neat plugins that you can use with it. Hell I've even got some that make my traffic for me, WpTweetBomb <-- its not even an affiliate link, its just a damm good product.

However if you really want to find out, build a blog in wordpress and another in blogger, see which ranks?

In terms of keywords, yes you do need them and SEO, yes you don need it. Especially if you want traffic, targeted traffic.

Niether will do the work for you, however some plugins WpTweetBomb cough cough will help. Help alot.

Are you talking about wordpress.com or wordpress.org?

blogger and wordpress.com hosted blogs, imo, get picked up pretty easily by search engines. But SEO is important. For me, the most important part has been anchor text in my post.

Running your own blog through the Wordpress software (wordpress.org) for me, though, is better. I have control over almost anything and there are a number of plugins to add some pretty amazing functionality to your blog/site.

And it isn't as hard as you may think to get picked up on search engines. Generally I submit my site to a few of the larger social bookmarking sites (or articles I publish as well) and I have seen them picked up in a few hours.

edit:::
Also using some of the social bookmark submission services here at WF has helped me tremendously.

omg i didn't even know that there is wordpress.com and .org... i guess i need to keep reading

haha don't worry about it. yeah there are 2. .com host blogs locally and .org gives you the software to run the blog yourself.

I get that sometimes, as well, with Movable Type. There is a difference in the .com and .org software.

Really important distinction: A blog hosted on Wordpress.com (i.e. free) CAN NOT BE MONETIZED! No ads, no CPA! A self-hosted blog using the Wordpress.org "software" can be. And a free Blogger blog CAN BE MONETIZED - they're owned by Google, so every Blogger blog has an instant AdSense option.
