The pro life democrat holdouts have caved, as we all knew they would. This paves the way for the Dems to have way more than the 216 needed to pass this legislation.

Despite the fact that 65% of the people are opposed to this, and the fact that this in one of the most historic votes in the history of the USA, the dems are going to pass it along party lines.

Its ashame that politicians are going to destroy a health care system where 200+ million are covered, in order to to take care of 30 million. I know that sounds heartless, but there are things that could have been done to insure those 30 million without destroying the best health care system in the world.

Really, it isnt abount insurance. It is about the govt gaining control of more of our lives and money. Now, they can dictate what foods can be consumed, and who can get care. Oh and by the way, they have our voting records.

America will go down in defeat tonight when the democrats pass this health care bill.
 


I don't remember where I read this, but recently a read an article that said it will still take about 4 years to completely roll out.

You are partially right. The coverage for the uninsured does not go into affect until 2014. However, the tax increases and medicare cuts begins the day the bill is signed into law. The benefits don not begin until 2014, while all the payments begin right now.

And they'll somehow manage to run out of funds for that program even though they been collecting taxes on it for 4 years...

Don't wish to hijack or start a debate, just wondering on what metric US health care is best in the world?

Looking at most of the main international stats (life expectancy, infant mortality etc), the US is sub-30s.

Congress will probably just spend all the money collected from the new taxes long before the new program hits.

Just take a look at Social Secuirty. They been collecting a surplus for years until now but Congress borrowed/spent all the extra money (they call it invested in special Treasury Bonds). So now they have to figure out some way to pay it back now when it comes due.
 
And even if Republicans take control in November in both the Senate AND House, it will never be revoked. Same if they win in 2012.
 
funny how most americans don't seem to realize that they are enslaved by their citizenship, no matter where they live.

you'll have to report to the IRS, no matter where you live. While anyone else can simply sign off and doesn't hear from their country ever again until they decide to come back.

Why is it so difficult for people to understand what a public option is really about. CHOICE not CONTROL. If your so fucking in love with the health care you currently have then KEEP IT. No one is forcing you to switch to a government-run alternative. Hell if anything you'd think having a public option would make the insurance companies behave a hell of a lot better than they do now. If your 100% happy with the health-care system then either you've never been seriously ill yourself or you've never known someone that has been.

It's an absolute fucking joke the way the privatized companies are run so why not accept the CHOICE of having an alternative??

Why are most republicans so against people having CHOICES?
