POF Foreign Currency Charges

These POF foreign currency charges are killing me.

If I'm in America, how do I get around this? I've already tried arguing with my CC company (Discover) who won't budge.

How do I stop paying for this crap?
 


Have you looked into opening an offshore bank account or an account with an online bank. Many of these banks offer better conditions and fewer charges than American banks.

Sorry to inform you that the American government do not like its citizen to open an offshore bank account.
 
IF POF allowed prepay it would make like a hell of a lot easier. You could just wire the funds from your account via an FX company who then do the currency exchange for you. A decent FX company should charge a couple % over and above the base rate where as banks can charge up to around 10% (THIEVING FUCKS)
 
Haha - how does it feel? Us Canadian affiliates have been dealing with FX forever, I got USD credit card, fx trading account, whatever it takes!

When you tell it to put $100 into the account, your account on POF will reflect the $100 but your credit card will show more than $100. The difference is the currency conversion.
 
get an account with charles schwab. no forex fees.

i had the same thing with citibank before. when i would make payments to canada, even if the amount was in USD i would get dinged with a 3% surcharge.
 
yeah I am sick of this wasted money on these foreign transaction fees. It is fucking annoying. FIX THIS POF

US needs to annex Canada. It is about time.
