Alright I have been reading a lot of articles and all that other bullshit and after selling off my gaming forum I decided to create a new one. Talkhistory.net, Now It has been open for about 3 days now and I only have 3 registered members! One of which is my friend! I have tired myspace bullitens and advertising in forums related to my subject but this is just not working. I even have a members only download section for e-books and a gallery and shop to promote interest.

Now if anyone can give me good advice I would be very happy and greatful. :bigear:

You gotta keep making posts consistently. Try and establish the "main" members that post just as much as you do so that you can focus your resources on link building and all that fun stuff. Make the active and loyal members moderators. They'll help keep the forum active as well as telling others about it. The first 1,000 members are always hard but you should be getting regular sign-ups every day after that easily.

Another thing, controversy is always good. Make debate threads that will push guests to the edge and they'll sign up to air their opinion. A lot of times they'll stick around to post.

Not neccesarily. Ive got one running on my forum at the moment and it hasnt done much at all. I have to get stuck into my advertising and marketing next week so the response is actually worth the prize money.

I heard contests help.

your site seems to be down. (suspended)

have around 6-8 forum topics, and stay VERY active. Go around to other history forums in your demographic, but not in your specific niche. Advertise your website in your signature, and be very active. Members will flock over to your website.

There's always the option of having a contest as well. Whatever you do, remember to stay active!

Yeah it has been down for about 1 1/2 days my host hasn't been online and I haven't been able to pay =/.

My forum is doing pretty well before suspension I had 150 post, 10 members. 3 of which where me and two friends.
