backup software?

XP, my laptops hard drive is 40gb. I don't have more than 20 gb. to backup. I'd like some easy to use image software, so if anything happens to my laptop or if I get another computer, I can just re-image the new computer with all my data, but wouldn't that create a problem with the OS with the old drivers on a new computer?

If you change hardware then you could easily mount the image so it's readable, and grab the information you need.

I've always heard good things about Norton Ghost. We used it a work years ago but it's been ages since I've used a PC. I think it costs about $50.

If you are into UNIX at all you can use dd. It's free and will make an image from anything. It's a bitch to use if you are not familar with the UNIX shell. You can get it for Windows by installing the cygwin tools.

Good Luck.
