So I'm thinking about buying a macbook, which would be by first mac computer and I'm wondering what you people who switched from windows xp/vista think about your macs? Is it just as easy to pirate software? Do they run much smoother? Do they crash or freeze much? Do applications also available for windows run better on macs?

Depends on who you ask. My girlfriend has a macbook pro and it crashes at least twice as much as my vista laptop.

CS3 apps seam to run faster on her machine then mine. Firefox runs much faster on my machine then hers. Other than those two programs I don't think I've noticed a difference in anything else.

Just my personal experience.

tweak50: This is off-topic, but why not aim higher than a measly $50 per day? I got started in affiliate marketing roughly 2 weeks ago, and am hitting (hopefully) my first $300 day of revenue today. It's definitely possible, so set your goals higher!

Yeah yeah yeah. Nice work! I've been reading through these forums for about a year now and still haven't managed to actually start anything. I think my problem is that I get to involved in reading what to do without actually doing any of it.

Hell yes it's a good decision. I'm a graphic designer and my co-worker bugged me to switch for months. I have a a sysadmin background with PC's so I wasn't thrilled about it. However, I finally got a macbook pro just to shut him up, and holy crap I'm happy.

No hassles, viruses, spyware etc. The operating system is rock solid, and since the chipset is based on intel, you can boot into windows with no problems.

I'm sure there will be plenty of fuckfaces like the cakes who say that XP or Vista (hahaha) is better. But, again, I'm sysadmin certified up the yin yang, so I'm not just talking out of my ass when I say I like the mac better.

I have both a Mac Pro workstation and a MacBook Pro which I use everyday, and I have not had a single issue. As far as pirating is concerned, it's probably easier since you don't have to worry about trojans and other malicious backdoors being hidden within cracked software.

Just remember that as soon as you boot into Windows on a Mac, you are susceptible to all of the issues that plague native Windows machines...

That's perfectly fine! I read for roughly a year myself before trying anything. It's the readings you're doing right now that will make your first campaign a success. :) Good luck!

Yeah that would be great, and Linux would be even better. Get away from the Windowz nazis. Seriously, run. You can still run most of your favorite windowz applications on either thanks to Wine - other wise there's always virtual machine or Parallels Desktop for Mac

Hmm I've had a macbook for almost two years now and it's never crashed once. Safari is the fastest browser I have ever used. My computer "emulates" Windows faster than I have ever experienced on another computer. Even faster than my friends gaming computer. That's a good enough point to get one right there alone. If you are concerned about the swap over to mac, just run windows on the same machine so you can switch back and forth!

Because you just aren't cool without a neckbeard, birkenstocks, an ipod, macbook, and starbucks credit card, and every dave matthews album.

lol you forgot torn jeans and perfectly coiffed beadhead hair.

Windows is a piece of shit operating system, and using it at this point makes me want to kill myself. I have never met a person that has used OSX for over a month and actually wanted to go back to Windows.

I bought my macbook pro for college. I am never, ever, ever going back. Its not so much a Mac/PC thing. In my opinion Vista uses an extra 2GB of ram without giving me any REAL new features. Its slow and insecure. So I run Mac OSX leopard. Its amazing.

I prefer macs. But I'm using vista 64 and it's not THAT bad. I mean, unless you are a power user and need a reliable system that doesn't crash, get viruses and need security updates every week, than maybe a mac isn't such a bad idea?? lol
