I was so looking forward to summer because that is when I get more hours of work time wihout the constant errands that the school year presents for moms. But after doing this AM/WM work for 8 years (2 years full time), and being so in love with it I was a constant bore to my friends and family - I just started June with an awful case of Webmaster Block.

I didn't want to write articles, make blog posts, promote websites, or even visit WF. It seemed like every post I read here was the same post, but that was probably more about my state of mind than WF.

I did take a couple of vacations, plus just let myself goof around. I forced myself to do some tedious tasks like approving articles on my article websites, submit RSS feeds, etc., but I just could not come up with anything GOOD. Meanwhile my sales had some momentum, but were starting to lose ground.

I bought the Lewis Black book in the airpost (Me of Little Faith). At the end he talks about writing. He says that he used to take a nap thinking the muse would visit him, and he would wake up with a great idea of his book. But that never worked, and he found that the only way to write, was just to WRITE. You could not sit and think about how stupid the writing was, but just doing it would bring back inspiration.

I think I did the same thing as I got burned out. I would lay down, thinking I would get another great idea, and all would be well. But usually, I just fell asleep and my "block" was getting worse.

BUT...after taking this 6 - 8 week break from doing any real good for my business... I came back to WF. Within 20 minutes of reading blog posts, I had one idea for a new website I just had to do, and had purchased some tools to do it with. I went to sleep last night, not waiting for the muse, but impatient for morning so I could get started.

Don't wait for the muse... the muse is YOU.

But also, sometimes take a break. Or at least let yourself off the hook by doing some of the boring stuff you never get around to when you're doing the more challenging work.

Anyway, sorry if this is long and rambling and silly. But I'm sure some of you must have gotten to the same place I was. Its nice to be back. :)
