1 Killer Tip to marketing Offline...Its pretty easy if you have guts.

Simple flyer tip for those using them: don't hand out fucking flyers.

Hand out a brief one page (or one page folded into two small pages) ten paragraph or less article which addresses a common problem related to whatever service you are selling, and offers a free fix. Careful with your free fix -- you want it to be something doable, and something that doesn't cost money, but something that will require some focus and effort on the part of the reader. It also shouldn't be a comprehensive thing that totally eliminates the prospect's need for your service (duh.)

Obviously the last bit of the flyer has a brief rundown of your services, contact info and call to action.

I am doing this as we speak with a service that builds networks of related mini-sites to funnel traffic to the clients, and it is going seriously well. The tutorials I've written even include a link on our site to a mini-directory of free online services to help the clients do it themselves; I blocked the SEs from the directory to try to get the best estimate of follow-through and the rates are pretty suprising -- and the follow-ups to close ratio is one of the best I've seen in an offline campaign.

Great tips Frank. I have also found that giving away a free service or free information is a great way to get the initial contact and trust needed to eventually close a sale. Flyers can still be very effective if produced correctly. Sometimes as internet marketers we forget that the general population is not as tech savvy as us, and would respond much more favorably to a flyer delivered in person than an email that looks like spam.

Flyers can sometimes be a pain, but for off-line marketing they are definitely one of the most cost effective ways to reach your target market.

Here is my offline strategy - obviously not meant for B2B. I find two hot, local college women. I get 5000 eye catching business cards printed that has a simple teaser with a catchy web address that then explains the deal in detail. I have tested the business card vs a "flyer" or one pager and the business card has out performed them every time. I guess it's easier for someone to stick in there pocket and revisit at their convenient.

Just curious how much you usually pay the girls?
