I was shocked to hear Zuck say it, but here it is:

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/24/technology/facebook-revenue-surpasses-forecasts.html?_r=0

“I want to dispel this myth that Facebook can’t make money on mobile,” he told financial analysts on the company’s third-quarter earnings call. “We are just getting started.”

Even before he spoke, investors seemed to take comfort from the company’s earnings report, released on Tuesday after the market closed.

Facebook posted revenue that slightly beat forecasts, and it said 14 percent of its advertising revenue came from ads on mobile devices. With those results, its shares rallied more than 8 percent in after-hours trading. Even so, they were at about 45 percent of the initial public offering price.

I got burned on this badly... bought a bunch of FB puts earlier in the day. I'm hoping the release of employee stock lock ups on Monday brings the stock below $19

I said in the Google thread that the way to play FB is a straddle. Naked options during a huge catalyst such as earnings is suicide. I'm sure the IV drop will suck you dry tomorrow.

I'll make an updated post tomorrow at open to show how a straddle play would have panned out.

i check my stats... and yes this seems true..

the best part is you can choose just mobile but you cant opt out of mobile... so if mobile traffic is useless they don't care

I have developed a hypothesis that facebook is tricking mobile users into liking pages with the suggest-a-page advertising.

I've talked to a lot of people in the last couple months that said they "like" many local business pages that they never actually liked and aren't sure how they did it. After investigating, I think people are mis-clicking on their mobile device.

This came up in a meeting a few months back with a client we were pitching social to and said he and his wife were "liking" pages that they didn't like.

with them releasing the mobile app installs, it should go up higher. Has been a pain in the ass but I'm excited to see what the results will be.
