3 questions about domain redirects?

Hi all,

I've searched this forum regarding domain redirects but I still have a few questions to ask.

Is redirecting one of your domains to a merchant's domain (with your affiliate code included) usually frowned upon by the merchant?

Does redirecting a domain inevitably leave money on the table? Would creating a helpful 'resource' website be the best way to maximize profitability?

Are there any seo disadvantages to redirecting a domain name to a merchant site?

Thanks for your help

Redirecting to a merchant site would be pretty much the same thing as direct linking, I don't think there is anything to frown upon. However, if your domain was merely a redirect without any content you're definitely not going to rank well on SERPs. Go with the resource website with a link to the merchant's domain.

Most merchants won't like it. Pills, porn, etc don't care.

No.

That is the general opinion of most webmasters.

As NightG said, if you redirect, you don't have any seo.

The only time I redirect is if I am cloaking OR if I want the traffic to
come through one of my own sites where I can log it before it goes to
the merchant.
