30 Days as an Indian in a Call Center

Dude I love your blog.

When I was a kid in the 80's we took a "plane trip to vegas" with my dad and some actors who were in a series called "High Mountain Rangers" or something. We had some trouble and landed at some ranch in the middle of the desert with the nicest hotel I've ever seen. It was near the Harris Ranch beef place.

We spent a few days there, then flew to Vegas then some place up on some mountain. I was just a kid but looking back, that was definitely drug dealing lol.

Either way, we flew into some restricted airspace also. I think it was a flight lab though because there were planes already in the air ready to make sure we turned right the hell around hahahah.

Good times.

Also, ... I met a guy who had been flying the last 20 years with no license. Very low altitudes. Between here and Mexico. If you catch my drift. Quite a character.

Yeah, at the beginning he's a douche.
I watched the whole thing. The whole time he's just like "lol fuckin indians they take our jobs fuckers i hate indians rah rah i did something more expensive than the market rate and i'm upset that people won't pay me $100k a year for my skill that someone else will do for $6k hurr hurr."

Don't get me wrong. I'm a programmer, but I capitalize on the fact I have slightly (and I mean slightly) better communication skills and a better grasp of American culture/other factors than the outsourced labour can provide, because outsourced labour is too cheap for me to live on in North America.

That's not to say the video wasn't interesting. It was.

What really shocked me was the man that was the head janitor. The fact that he was living in that shack with so many people made my head spin.

That bees nest in the beginning was a BIG problem for me!

I also really was amazed by the outcry of the poor at the end. That really made a very interesting statement.

Interesting movie. Especially if you've read [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Shantaram-Novel-Gregory-David-Roberts/dp/0312330537/"]Shantaram[/ame]. Highly recommended book!

The guy was an idiot, no wonder he lost his job in America. Why did he keep ragging on the Indians saying that they're stealing American jobs? Complaining to an individual isn't going to accomplish anything but piss them off.

I thought the interesting part was when the indian guy assumed all the jobs were being outsourced to india was due to the number of skilled workers there, he either wasn't aware of or didn't want to acknowledge the huge pay differential. He'll probably end up being just as bewildered when jobs end up getting outsourced out of india to even cheaper places like Vietnam.

make sure you read this article if you don't physicall read outside like the bible (as I do).

Africa: Strange Bird | Outside Online

Great portrayal into a crazy character flying anything and anyone in Africa for any reason for cold hard cash.

The guy says this right after he was hired as a call center rep for $1200 a month....and shocked by the wage no less.
paraphrase..
In India, it's like raining jobs...and in the United States we are desperate just not to get fired. I just haven't figured out how they're doing it yet.
This guy must be a part of the current administration's economic team. Jesus Christ is there any question this country needs greater emphasis in school on basic economics, business, capitalism, etc.?
