Links links and more links, getting quality links are vital part of SEO campaign. Link building techniques/ methods are evolved over the time, as there is lot of changes in search engine algorithm, how a webpage is being considered by this search engine over the time has changed over the time.

Search engines consider contextual links or the in-content links as most authority links if they are coming from relevant content, pointing to similar niche.

5 Methods to quality links

Guest Blogging:submit guest posts to sites in your niche sites, first of all search for authority sites in your niche, having good page authority and domain authority main consider the amount traffic that site is generating for itself, more the traffic more chances of your site getting traffic from that site. You mainly focus on submitting high quality content to that site and on your keywords mostly you are going to be allowed to 2 keywords per article.
Finally Google loves in-content links which look genuine and legitimate; hence there is a flow of domain authority, page authority and link juice to your site… +++ to your site.

Press Release: Write something new, shocking or any unknown fact about your industry and submit to press release site.
“The goal of a press release is to pique the interest of a journalist or publication. The press release should contain all the essential information (who? what? where? when? how? and most importantly why?) for the journalist to easily produce his own story”. Source [how stuff works]
Once your news become famous and read my journalist who is researching on your industry will definitely use your content and your content will go viral and you will get so many link pointed to your sites.

List Building: Make a list of top 100 blogs in your niche; include their names, locations and other aspects of their blogs. Make a widget using this list and embed your link at the bottom and give away this widget to all the 100 blogs , definitely they all will feel happy about inclusion of their blog and at least you are going to 50-60 link backs from those authority sites.

Content-Link building: Scrape your competitor’s links and search where they are getting in-content links, make a list of it and store it in excel sheet. Before your start contacting them, get ready with your quality content and ask them that you’re interested in posting a high quality content.
Scrape your competitor’s link using site explorer or Yahoo site explorer.

Strong Internal linking : Internal linking is also damn important in building links; check out all the pages in your sites, their page rank and page authority through “seo quake” or “moz toolbar”. Then using your main keywords link these authority pages to your main page and pass link juice of that authority page to your main page.

I have never gone the press release route, but have always been intrigued by it.

It seems like quite the gamble though. Spend $1,000 on PRWeb and you are not guaranteed to be picked up by anyone more than if you spend $100 is how I read it. Not really sure what they are charging for.

Solid information and in most instances, low-cost strategies, which for many newbies is always a plus!

Haven't done any PR's recently and last time I did, I outsourced it...and am now just getting into guest blogging! Just wish I could find something (tool of course) that would make finding blogs in my niche less strenuous and time consuming!

As far as I know, internal linking isn't a way of getting backlinks...

Instead, deep linking is going to help you a lot in improving the visibility of your internal pages.
