Trying to make some moves

Hey WF,

I figured I'd use a single email address as my contact email at the numerous Affliliate Networks I'm a member of so I signed up with an domain email hosting provider. I decided to use an old domain of mine and signed with 1&1 Internet Inc. - Web Hosting Services and Domain Name Registration. Their service is shit! As soon as my DNS info was updated to point to their servers I started to receive spam. Also, their email forwarding feature is a joke! It works sporadically. I paid $11.88 for a year.

Do you guys know of a solid provider? I don't mind paying more for solid service.

Thx

Hey Skylark
I know of a good one, it is still pretty inexpensive, but what you get is worth it. You get your own domain name, website, they take care of hosting, etc, 10 emails and different options. This is a global company, moving damn fast. Have you ever heard of .WS sites. I am an affiliate. If you want to check it out email me at vissda@yahoo.ca - Dan

So far I haven't had a problem with Dreamhost. Currently, I set up an email address with every domain I have and just forward them to my gmail account, but they support up to 3000 POP accounts and unlimited aliases on their cheapest package. You could also set up a catch all on the domain to recieve email for any variation, but that would result in a lot more spam. If you google around or visit their forums for a discount code, the first year works out to about $2-3 a month ($10 a month after).

Seems like this thread has attracted a bit of spam!

I just use cPanel to forward everything to gmail and setup different usable email addresses there - if I really need to hide my gmail address (hardly ever) I log into cpanel and use horde or the other ones.

Had a domain with 1&1 once - nightmare just to transfer it, wouldn't use them again.

we had a dedicated server on 1&1 . There customer service is one of the worst i had in my life. Our mail and ftp server didn't work and we needed some help , we called them (set on the phone for 30 minutes and the line died) and when we managed to get a hold of them, they said that if we don't appreciate their service we can take our stuff to another company, and then they hung up the phone. I don't know any good company myself but I'm currently hosting on site5. (but they are very slow now, so I don't really recommend them) What ever you do , don't go to 1&1 .
Just my 2 cents.

Hosting

As far as traditional web hosting I just switched from Apollo Hosting (because of antiquated php and MySQL versions and poor customer service) to WebIntellects and so far I am thrilled. Great integration, super fast ticket solving and overall very smooth. I tried another ISP provider before switching to them and it's night and day.

As far as e-mail marketing I came across Speedyemailmarketing.com and while I did not try them price looks great and solution very pro.

Good luck

I actually meant to write campaignmonitor.com and not speedymailmarketing.com.

The later one may offer an excellent service but do not know them and based on what they offer one must try to get a sense of results if any.

Best,
