who the hell cares about blogging? Blogging makes $0 compared to other things online. The time investment for the average person is months or years for a payoff, the time investment doing arbitrage or affiliate marketing is days or weeks and the profits are much much much higher!

Blogging isn't always measureable to direct income. Many times people setup blogs to build up their name and gain credibility in the industry... which goes a long way and can open many indirect income opportunities.

Case in point, from Andrews blog

Its given me an online identity, allowed me to network with some incredible people, and somehow I am now scheduled to be on a panel with Shoemoney and Jon (who doesn’t use his last name) at Affiliate Summit in January.

blogging for dollars is a crap business model unless you are weblogs inc. wtf, why would you put so much time into something with minimum return?
blogging for identity etc is something else

chrislingle-glad you see blogging isn't just about money! Didn't Jon get a lot of people to this forum through his blog? (I'm one of them)

Besides, blogging provides me with happy meal money! :)
My website skills are below minimal, I can blog though! Since I started blogging I have learned how to do a lot of things (a little html, ftp client, hosting, ad placement, etc). Doing what I can (blogging with blogger and now WP) is better than doing nothing while I develop other skills/have the money to pay someone to do what I can't.

Also, I can get group home staff help info out there a lot sooner than if I wait to do a website. The information can be more current as well.
