Well it appears that SitePoint actually has someone paying attention to what others are saying, I don't know if they check this forum to see what others are talking about or they just managed to follow my signature on their site to see the post I made about Internet Real Estate and staying away from SitePoint but to my surprise I got a comment on that article from "Matt Mickiewicz" asking me to send him the site that was causing the problem, he had a legit SitePoint email address so I wasen't too concerned about this just being some random person.
I tossed him the email explaining the situation, what I've found, and I expressed how I felt about such a hackable system they've got going on SitePoint and said the marketplace wouldn't be all that bad if things were cleaned up a little bit.
I just got a response back which said:
"Hi Adam,
I've undeleted the posts and sent the seller a warning.
We'll be adding some additional features to try to prevent fraud -- we have a team of 4 full-time developers on the marketplace right now, it's just that for the past 2.5 months our focus has been on redeveloping the back-end so that we can effectively scale the marketplace going forward.
We also just hired someone full-time to work in the office and help out
with the marketplace support/operations... once Ed is up to speed,
we'll have additional resources to monitor activity".
Well I must say thats the first thing SitePoint has ever done to show me some sort of good business practice and all might not be lost for their marketplace, don't get me wrong though if WickedFire ever started up a marketplace then bye bye SitePoint, but for now when I'm looking for sites to buy they can stay as another source to check out, but thats only if they clean up the place a little bit.
I don't know if anyone actually cares about this shit (Probably Not) but there it is in a nutshell anyway, I'm still a bit curious to wonder if SitePoint mods/developers/owners whatever are active on this forum just because my blog is still too small to bring in any real attention (And No, other then this I didn't contact anyone on SitePoint about the site I was previously talking about).
