Hi Guys,

I'm new to the 'online hustle' but I am very excited to begin making money online. I really think about it all day.

However there are a few obstacles in my way;

1. I'm not 18. I read in another thread in this section that this may limit the amount of affiliation offers I can participate in.

2. I have very limited money to use for this, $30. I do have a domain for one site I had in mind.

I have a few questions, if they have already been answered and you can just give me the link, I don't expect a through explanation to an exhausted question.

1. Is there a place to learn the core basics of the frequently used terms? I have read many "how to improve affiliation" etc., but not so much of what affiliation actually is. Including other terms such as PPC etc., all the terms.

2. Is there really a possibility to make money from free resources such as a blogspot?

My biggest problem so far is becoming overwhelmed with the available information which stalls and demotivates me into doing nothing.

Thanks for taking the time to read, any tips who can give me are appreciated.

Biggest tip I can give you is don't walk away because you're not 18, I remember reading on here when I was about 16, didn't do anything and now I'm just getting started, missed a boat load of experience mainly but everything else that happened in the last few years.

You can make some bank without a bunch of money or paid advertsing, get hot on SEO, onsite and offsite, get a site ranked high in google and just learn from that.

If you're on a shoe string budget, and still in school, start with SEO and learn everything you can. Build sites, rank them, bring in some sales, rinse, repeat. Get good at it and you'll never have to worry about money. Right now you don't have all the bills that you will when you're older and on your own, so take advantage of that. In other words, you can afford to have a few "lean" months and not have to worry if you're going to eat or make your mortgage payment.

I appreciate this. I've recently read quite a few similar stories and regrets from others wishing they had started earlier. I turn 18 in October so I am older than you were, but I am very interested in this stuff and I can't wait to get started.

Thank you for the link, I'm fairly sure I saw it in one of the stickies here but I have not yet read through it. I'll give it a look today, hopefully it can answer my questions.

I have read through the NickyCakes guide and I read half way through BlueHat's SEO Empire before I decided it was enough to digest for one day. Any other links you think I should read through, I will.

Today I've been thinking of a niche and using the Google Keyword Tool (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal ) to try and determine a domain.

The current one I am thinking of now has a Global Monthly Search Volume of 27,100, with 0 competition and Not Enough Data for the Local Search Volume (what does that mean?). The problem is it's not something where people are looking to buy a product. Despite having 0 competition, and having a relatively high GMSV, is this a bad idea for making money? It is something easy for me to fill with original quality content and layer in a way to hit other keywords with a GMSV in the sub-5K category, I have not read a lot about going about this type of option instead of something like should-i-buy-xxxxx.com where the chance of converting is enormously higher.

I look forward to your responses, all responses to this topic as well as others have been very beneficial to this learning experience so far.

How much of what's on BlueHatSEO still is relevant? I remember reading something a while ago here where people were talking about how Google has changed the way it does things since the Foundations article was written and that this technique isn't as effective as it once was.

Man that sounded retarded.

What I meant to say was that I still see the applicability of a lot of what he has to say in that blog, but I read a few things here (I believe) about how link volume is getting to be less importance than relevance and that keeping huge database sites indexed is a little tricky. Obviously, I don't know a ton about this, but I was curious if my understanding is right.

Man. Join the 'make money online' gang. I am a noob on WF myself but having quite a ball going through some of the stickies made by the mods. WF sure is fun.
If there's one tip that I could give you about making some serious cash glued to the screen, its this - work hard. Yeah, you gotta work your ass out one time or another to make those greens rollin in. All the best, sucker ! :D

I tried to post a message similar to this one yesterday, but it said the post needed to be approved by a mod. It's been close to 24 hours so I'm going to try it again, my apologies if it's a duplicate.

I read the Nickycakes guide, and I'm going to go over it once more. I found it very helpful in answering the basic questions I had. I also read the SEO Empire article on Bluehat and found it interesting, but harder to understand.

Tireswing, I also read somewhere in a thread here at WickedFire that the SEO Empire pertains less to today's SE's, but it still gave me the concept of building links.

Here's my current situation/planning

Budget - $30
Possibly too young for Affiliate Networks

I believe I may have found a niche. According to the Google Keyword Tool;
Global Monthly Search Volume -27,100
Advertiser Competition - Zero.
Local Search Volume: April - Not Enough Data

Here are my concerns

1. What is Local Search Volume, and it how does it having "not enough data" effect me?
2. This niche/domain/main keyword isn't something people would visit when they are wanting to buy something, likely a low conversion rate. Is it still possible to be profitable with the amount of potential traffic it could receive?
3. It is something I could easily write original content about and I would enjoy doing it. This could be a site with a lot of content in it.

I have a few similar ideas in mind, but I don't think any of them would have a high conversion rate such as a shouldibuyxxxx.com would, but if this isn't a problem then I've found some great keywords/niches with very little if any competition.

Bump.

Sorry if bumping a topic is not allowed, I looked through the rules but didn't see anything. It's been over 48 hours if you include the delay I got yesterday mentioned above. I'm anxious to get started!.

>1. What is Local Search Volume, and it how does it having "not enough data" effect me?
Local Search is a small section of the global, set by the Location and language you set in the tool.

>2.
Get trafic> put up offers > improve coversion > repeat
I think that's the way, if u do that, you can get anything to profit I think.
Many many stupid/strange things will back that up.
Don't forget there is an infinate number of options on the type of offers you can put.
3.
That's very good, use it.

Alright, I've been looking for more niches based of keywords and I've got a few, must being 2 keywords that I can exact match for the domain in the future. I'm going to spring and start 1 of my ideas. Turns out I got a $100 free for Google AdWords in my email, so that may help me. Right now my only concern is cost. This campaign may be limited to 1 month if I don't get a job soon.

Based off my reading I doubt I'll be able to earn enough through this (my first) campaign for it to pay it's own hosting, but it would sure be nice.

I love your enthusiasm. Having just started out myself, however in PPC, I find the field of affiliate marketing to be thrilling and quite honestly, plain interesting. I have yet to make profit but have been making huge improvements since I started out about two and a half months ago. If you keep putting the amount of time you seem to be putting in now into learning how it all works you will be banking in no time. You seem clever enough to not be asking the questions like "WHICH NIHCE IS TEH BEST WAHT SHULD I DO TO MAKE MONIES ONLINE????" which is, unsurprisingly, really fucking common.

Good luck man! I'll be following this thread.

EDIT: BTW, if there is one thing I've learned the really hard way(that is, wasting a lot of cash) it is to stick to one project and make that profitable. It will get tempting to try out different things, such as PPC, PPV etc. once you notice how much hard work and long hours you really need to put in or when the profit isn't coming in as expected. Therefore, don't do what I did, stick to your site and make it profitable before you move on!

Doing SEO when starting out is a good idea. I recommend doing other things too such as social media marketing; facebook is basically surpassing Google these days in traffic.

Also you can do article marketing, blogs, video marketing, etc. The key is to diversify in order to win.

I think of it like a War. In the battle of Normandy in World War II hundreds upon hundreds of American troops rushed the Germans, and even though lots of them died there was more than enough for some to still succeed and take over the base. So, this is sort of an analogy to how your internet marketing efforts should be like, its all about the 80-20 rule...meaning that about 20% of what you do is going to bring in 80% of your success.

Thanks for the replies and PMs guys.

Just to clear things up, this isn't going to be a blog where I update where I'm at with AM, but I plan to use it to ask any questions I have as long as people keep answering them here without me having to create a new thread.

1. Has anyone used the hosting being advertised on the right sidebar? Page1Hosting? The price is extremely appealing to me.

Never mind. Should have checked it out before I posted. Wish this forum had an Edit button.

Guess I'll be going with Host Gator paying $8.95 a month because the only way I can afford hosting is to pay by the month, for about 2 months when my "spare cash" isn't spare anymore.

• Your Payee name needs to match the name on your bank account.
• Payee must be at least 18 years of age to participate in AdSense.
Is there a way I could use AdSense anyways, and not get my account canceled? Maybe not cash the cheques until I am 18? How often/what amount are you paid?

If signing up and not cashing anything until I'm 18 would get me by without having my AdSense banned I'd be happy.
