The guy wants me to send either my domain or my site to him before I get the money. He said he has been ripped of before but Im a little bit skeptical of the situation. Any advice? He said he's willing to do a deposit for it but Im not really interested in that. I've talked ot my friend who deals with a lot of flippa stuff and he said to avoid it unless he pays first. I really want to sell it but Im not sure what to do here.

Just use Escrow.com. It's not perfect but it's better. I'd be damned if I sent anything to anyone before I received payment.

You gonna lose your site.

Maybe if his amount spent so far was 5x what he's paying for your site I'd trust him....but otherwise he's 99% trying to scam.

Use escrow.com

On another note if you use paypal he can dispute it up to 60 days. Paypal does not give a shit about digital goods so you will be fucked if he disputes saying he never received anything.

Use escrow if you can or:

Tell him to send half the money and you will send the site files and e can get the site ready, then when he sends the rest you send him the domain.

I would try to stay in the drivers seat as much as you can.

Thanks for the help everyone.... I decided to cut the buyer loose as he was extremely sketchy and unwilling to comply.

escrow dont saves you, when he has the domain, he can change the contact info, and say he didnt received it. and escrow only checks the whois info if it doesnt match the buyers name, they dont release the money.

if you really want sell and be 100 % secure go with moniker.com they have a escrow service, you transfer the domain to them, and the buyer the money, if they have both the domain and the money, than they transfer money / domain to the buyer / seller...

Money first, always. If it's a sizable amount and you're using paypal, I would include a 60 day holding period. You can change DNS and get the site moved during that period and as a buyer/seller, I don't have an issue being on either end of that idea.

KC1989,
You can also use moniker.com for the transaction. The domain and the money are both put into escrow accounts.

If you need a contact at Moniker let me know...
Thanks,
