So fellow WickedFire members, I wanted to let you all know about my experience at AdTech in NY city. It was an interesting time that was full of both positive and negative experiences. I'm certain that my experiences in NY will be of great value to me going into the future. It has certainly emboldened me and caused a much stronger desire to be successful at web development. Sadly, not many WF members were there for the meet-up. But to those that I met, it was a pleasure and I hope you will PM me with your contact info so we can stay in touch.

Being a tourist in NY city:

This was my first time in NY and it was incredible. I never knew it but NY is the center of the world. Nothing quite like it. (Damn, I couldnt get on the standyby flight to get out of here). I visited a large number of the tourist attractions in NY. The Metropolitan Museum of Art was by far the most amazing museum I have ever seen. It's collection of rare masterpieces is aw-inspiring. When at the museum of modern art I had a girl take a photo of me standing my Salvidore Dali's "Time" piece. I put my hand under the frame like I was holding it (Time). The security guard promptly told me to stand back from the painting! Then the flash went off, and he yeld at me and the girl as well.

Going to Ad-Tech:

It's big corporate time (or at least companies trying to look big) and really not of much value to me. I know what companies have to offer, I know what I do, and therefore it was somewhat of a waste. I did however, learn about some interesting new marketing platforms that can be of great value in the future. Value to you all as well. The company I'm refering to used cell phones to market products and services. You call a local number, and you get texted back with an offer of various sorts. Its a profit sharing model, and could be very lucrative. Meeting with WickedFire members was definetly the highlight for me. Jon was a pretty funny guy, he need's to work on his Borat impression though. High five Jon! He called me a fag for the first hour of meeting him, but other then that, he's a savy guy. His biz partner was very helpful to the WF members that met with him. He gave us all some great personal business experiences. I was suprised to learn that this was the first time Jon and Brandon ever met. After seeing so many affiliate companies, it makes me want to be a merchant and offer opportunities for affiliate marketers out there. I think this could be big for anyone, why always be on the other side of the transaction?

Going to CROBAR club with WF members and Ad-Tech attendees:

A huge club that was a real blast. Chatted with WF members for a little while, danced, and got wasted. After midnight it became an all cash bar and it sucked. There was a large black man at the front bar that was a raging flamer. He was a gay-faggoty-fucking-asshole-shit-fuck, that was slow as shit and never got me a drink. Lot's of people weren't tipping, and I think that was the reason for shotty service. MAD PROPS to COPEAC. I won the funny story contest here and got 2 VIP passes to CROBAR. I left the VIP passes in my hotel, and Danielle, hooked me up again with 2 MORE VIP passes. Sorry for my incompetence, but thanks COPEAC, and I would reccomend any affiliate marketer to work with them. Solid people that I think you can trust and get high quality service. They also hosted the WF meetup and let us stand in their tradeshow spot for quite some time.

ADOTAS VIP dinner at Fiamma on Spring Street:

Another highlight of my trip and a great networking event. I never saw so many CEO's and VP's in a room together at one time. Great people all involved in interactive media, media buying, technology, etc... I met Jon Grosshandler from eComExpo. If you guy's havent done the online ecommerce tradeshow by now, do it. It's a lot of valuable info, prizes, and discounts. I met some interesting fellows that are doing imbedded flash advertising, fellows from WhitePages.com, and dozens of other companies. I talked up my new project TreasureFriendships.com and everyone seemed interested. I was even offered a job as a consultant for a companies social-networking division. I asked a lot of CEO's for their top three suggestions for being a successful internet entreprenuer. Here were some of their resonses:

1. Your first year might be slow, and your contemporaries might blow up (Biggie says, "Blowin up like Nitro"). But it's the slow and steady that win the race.
2. Hire employees that are smarter then you.
3. Listen, listen, listen.

Hope you all enjoyed my little spleel about my experience in NY. Time to sort through my 600 emails that have built up over the past week.

P.S. I am trying to build more internet relationships with other webmasters, spammers, hackers, marketers, affiliateers, etc... So if you ever want to chat my AOL screen name is chubbymoola, MSN - katoved@yahoo.com, YAHOO - katoved@yahoo.com Look forward to speaking with you. Hope to meet more WF members in Vegas at ASW.
