Adding SSL to landing pages to increase conversions?

Has anyone ever tested if conversions/CTR increased on landing pages with a SSL certificate versus one without?

I'm not talking about a landing page where you have to enter billing information, but rather a traditional landing page that tries to get the end user to click the call to action button and be redirected to the "real" sign up form. I figure it might increase conversions when they visit your landing page and see it has a valid SSL cert (and you can show the SSL trust seal, too).

I noticed NameCheap is giving free PositiveSSL certificates with domain registrations, so it wouldn't cost you anything to register the SSL certificate for your domain.

The "secure" image/logo is probably going to increase your conversions more than an actual certificate.

Namecheap gives you free ones. So at that price why not have one it couldn't hurt

I'd have to agree, chances are the end user is not savvy enough to tell the difference.

Simple Tests, Significant Gains read expereiment #2 (actually, read #1 too b/c its good). that's an actual case study.
