In San Fran, going to Adtech?

Looking to meetup with some people during adtech that would like to venture around San Fran for a few days after the event. Going to explore the city (never been), find some surf spots and go surfing (only been once before and it was awesome). Post here if your interested in a meetup like that and i'll organize it during adtech.

Ocean Beach is the closest surf spot in San fran, but the water is really really COOOOLD, even with a full suit 5/4, and it's powerfull, as in kick your ass even if you have been surfing for ten years powerfull, I have a scar on my chin to prove it.

NOT the best place if you've only been surfing 1x before. I'm pretty sure there are other spots a little drive away that are mellower.

Have fun San Fran is awesome

jersey shore is about 2 hrs south of NY where i am, so we could probably get some WF jersey shore weekend kinda thing going during ASE since itll be august

oh hells yea. I'll be there with another surfing buddy. we were thinking of hitting up the santa cruz area.

hell, we'll probably turn our adtech trip into a surf trip, and stay out there an extra 2-3 days after the show to hit up whatever we can.

Come to SD if your trying to surf. Surfing is the main sport in SD, everyday the beach is flooded with surfers. Never was too good at it tho...

Yea but LBI/Seaside doesn't have that great of waves...nothing's really over a few feet...but then again...august is kinda hurricane season...

santa cruz has got the waves in SF....there's a bunch of good waves down there. but it is wicked cold. gotta bring a wetsuit.

also just so people know hawaii is where its at when it comes to surfing in the US. waves have been good island wide down here for the past week. 10-12 feet on the south shore and 20-30 feet on the northshore today.

Yep, Waddell, Santa Cruz is probably a better choice. A bit over an hour south of SF. It's a really nice drive though along Highway 1. You can also try Halfmoon Bay about half way that route. When the tide comes in, I also see people riding small swells right around the Golden Gate Bridge sometimes. Nothing impressive though. But if anyone is into kite surfing, Crissy Field by the bridge is one of the best spots in the bay area.

Would be cool to meet up!

Good beginner waves. im sure most ppl have barely surfed before=D. there are plenty of days where its like 5 ft... but on those days I take my jetski out and start jumpin em

are there really waves in NJ?

When I was on the east coast, the Atlantic looked like there would be dead bodies floating around in it

Gonna be there early and go around the city. Not sure about surfing though. San fran is somewhat cold.

What are the water temps going to be? Think a 3/2 xcel will be enough? Will I need booties/gloves? I'm just a florida boy with no idea what to expect.
