I don't have a ton of experience with Adwords, but I'm having an issue with a profitable campaign that I want to scale, and it seems Google just won't let it happen. I'm running the campaign on content only, I originally started it on Jan1, and it is not Acai. Quality score is 7-9 on all keywords. My daily budget is set at $500, but Google has never ran my bill up past $50 in a day.

From the start of the campaign on Jan1, my CTR was awful out of the gate...like .02%. From Jan1-6, I split tested a ton of different ads and removed bad placements, keywords, etc, and got my CTR up around .20-.25% on the 5th and the 6th. By these days, I was only getting about 40k impressions max a day on the campaign. I figured my terrible CTR in the beginning hurt the campaign, and was the reason for lack of volume, so I started a new campaign.

On the new campaign I just duplicated the best performing ads and keywords from the first campaign. Its been 2 days with the 2nd campaign now, and my overall CTR is .22%, QS is still 7-9, and I raised my bids from the first campaign. I've still only received 50k total impressions in the past 2 days.

I've talked with a few guys privately who are pretty experienced with this stuff and we've agreed that there's no way that the problem is lack of volume in my keywords. Does anyone else have some suggestions as to what I can do to get a lot more volume to this campaign?

What is your average position on the content network? From my experience there is a large volume dropoff if your position is higher than 4. (<=4 ads per adsense block + the first block is usually the most prominent on a site)

Average position is 6.2

If possible try upping your bids to get a position lower than 4. I'm pretty sure your volume will pick up.

If you see it cutting off at almost exactly $50 day after day, it could mean you are under review. I've had it where adwords would not let me spend more than $50 until I got past being reviewed. It will literally shut off like a switch though so you can easily tell if thats the problem vs. not enough volume.

I don't think thats the problem, it has been spending about $25-$50 a day, doesn't seem like its 'switched'. I raised my bids, we'll see what happens.
