Affiliate Marketing in India

I was wondering whether anyone here has tried to do Affiliate marketing by promoting products to Indians in India.

I'm thinking about doing some stuff with Bollywood items since that is so big and since you have such a large population in India.

What do you guys think of this idea?
 


I target one of my sites to indian traffic. It is not monetirised by affiliate products but selling ad space to those interested in indian traffic.
 
Perhaps just straight up google ad's might be better for India (that way, you just get paid per click because I don't think many Indians are using credit card online) - but they are 400 million middle class indians out there and I wonder how many are connected to the net.

There has to be a way to make money off that English speaking populace.
 
I didn't mean don't focus on keywords. I meant, find a niche that appeals to people in India, get good keywords, set-up a site and see if it will convert.

That's why I used the bollywood example because I know film is so big in India and if you could find products or info around that niche, you may make money.
 
Hi I am from India. In India now a days number of credit card users are increasing but online shopping is not much popular except in major cities. People are not much familar with online shopping in remote areas but in near future picture will be different.

I see many of the members here are making money online through AM. 'xmcp123' will you please guide which program you promoted? and by which method(article marketing, ppc etc.?) In case I will also like to help out, thanks.
 
definitely worth a shot.

Three suggestions:
remittances, there has to be at least one money transfer service with an affiliate program.
Visa help, this might be a referral thing where you funnel traffic to immigration law firms.
*study abroad programs, shit load of money there.

As far as monetizing, have you looked at Tyroo.com? They cater to the Indian market. Actually, Yahoo bought a 35-50 % share of their business back in July. I don't like the idea much..
You should do your research before thinking of something.
If you did not know:
Not many indians have credit cards, and those who do are really weary of using it online since everyone is scared of having their CCs "hijacked".
Well, those who do use computers alot and have CCs are the professionals with decent positions in decent companies and wouldn't really buy stupid stuff off the internet..
They don't like the INet much...
Just my 2 cents..
Not really assertive, but these are just my views...ofcourse, reality could differ.
