Anyone else notice that the simpsons are plastered all over the front page of MySpace? Some of the most aggressive ads I have seen, they are even in the background. Looks like News Corp is really making use of it's new marketing toy. They even showed part of the episode on the simpsons profile.

I would like to see the numbers on how many people tune in tonight, compared to last years season premiere. They couldn't advertise this any better :)

I might tune in, even though the Simpsons have been sucking... since the 90's!

This was on PaidContent.org:

In the latest intersection of News Corp. web traffic and TV programming, the first seven minutes of Fox Network’s “The Simpsons” season opener will be available as a preview on three Fox Interactive Media sites: MySpace, new site IGN TV and Fox.com. Unlike other efforts by Fox to air entire episodes online to lure viewers, this is part of what FIM describes as a “massive marketing push” to send fans to the broadcast Sunday night. The hype opps go far beyond the sites airing the preview: Homer Simpson on FoxSports.com, AskMen.com becomes AskHomer for a day and Homer will be man of the week; a Simpsons’ graphic will “take over” RottenTomatoes.com. You get the picture.

Not sure about the AskHomer thing, but they did do rottentomatoes.

Rebranding sites is nothing new. Undoubtedly it goes a very long way in raising awareness that banner ads can't even touch.

yeah - i don't know the price but you can skin the myspace homepage with whatever you want if you have enough $$$
