I have a few hosted apps that I kinda rely on where the provider is utilizing Amazon Cloud services - WTF? They're down all the time! Has anybody bought into this bullshit and using Amazon EC2 service? How's your uptime? Hyped up crap if you ask me:action-smiley-052:
 


Mm... used it for over a year, and no downtime. But keep in mind that downtime can be caused by the app developers. E.g. they can shut down the server or reboot or some other BS and not tell you about it.
 
EC2 has never gone down for me... The problem is your "provider" and if they are blaming Amazon, it is just to cover up their own incompetence.
 
I guess two of my providers have been simultaneously incompetent for the last week at inopportune times. Amazon cloud was the common denominator - so I was placing the blame.
 
EC2 never failed for me, that's all I have to say.

Maybe your providers relied on some 3rd party services but yes it is very easy to screw up any cloud setup if you do not know what you are doing.
