Another reason not to use GoDaddy

Biden will get the votes of online users that are aware of SOPA. But Id really like to know what happens when and if SOPA gets passed through.

"The bill would make unauthorized streaming of copyrighted content a felony."

Had no idea, about his little tidbit on SOPA.

Really? It's usually mentioned right next to the part about "linking" to unauthorized copyrighted content becoming a felony. i.e. You link to a karaoke video of one of your friends making an ass of themselves while drunk at a bar and pass the link to your other friends on FB. You and all of them are now felons for having that link on your pages. FB also is now a criminal if they don't remove the link within 5 days of the posted date.

I've started to move off Godaddy finally, but they sometimes have .com domains for like $1.16 special, which is too good to pass up.

Yeah, but if you want privacy with that, you have to go through a painful process of disabling it when you leave a year later. Just go with Domain Name | Internet Domain Registration | Register Domain Names and pay the $8/year fee and get all the bells and whistles for the same price.

I left Godaddy for Namecheap, then Namecheap for Internet.bs when both fucked me over on renewals by changing their policies.

So move your stuff to NameCheap then when SOPA passes and all your shit gets turned off you can write an email to Joe FUCKTARD and hope they get back to you at some point.

SOPA sucks. But moving your domains will only hurt you.

NameCheap is a shitty reseller with no real business model. They offer no telephone support. Slow... often pathetically slow online support. They are staffed by idiots. And their business address is a mailbox drop at Regus HQ which they share with dozens of other companies.

When you have a problem due to SOPA you think that NameCheap is going to be able to help you then? Good luck with that.

GoDaddy is a MAJOR player... NameCheap is pathetic wannabe.

That's how American Business works.

That's why we have 4 Cell Phone companies who all basically charge the same amount. That's why the Federal Government can give $19 Billion to GMAC with no strings attached so they can loan you money to buy the cars they are building with the money they gave you.

The System is VERY FUCKED UP.

Romney and Obama both get huge sums of campaign money from Goldman Sachs.

We have a one party political system based on MONEY.

And you can get pissed off all you want because of SOPA but if you move your domains to some wanna be host it will only come back to bite you in the ass.

You are an idiot, your thread proves it already - http://www.wickedfire.com/shooting-shit/143121-if-you-considering-namecheap-you-might-want-read.html

Can anyone suggest a registrar that has an easy to use interface? Particularly for batch changing a ton of domains at a time (dns, contact info, etc)?

If you post a referral link, I have to take you less seriously.

AFAIK, bulk transfers suck everywhere. I just transferred a bunch from GoDaddy to Internet.bs.

GoDaddy as the losing registrar sucked for these reasons.

Then, on internet.bs, there were several things that sucked about the bulk transfer in.
- It allows you to enter the authoritative NS records, which is handy if you have batches of domains with the same DNS servers. However, if you submit more than one batch (each batch with different DNS servers)...later in the process it munges the batches back together and overwrites the DNS servers. (Argh).
- Too many modal dialogs ( are you sure you want to do XYZ? ) in the web interface.
- This isn't just internet.bs, but apparantly ICANN requires a separate email for each domain with a "positive confirmation" link you not only have to click, but a form you have to submit, for each domain. Ick. Internet.bs did make one of the urls a "group submit", but you have to open all the emails to find it.

(Aside from my bad experience with the bulk xfer, I do like internet.bs. They have real tech support that responds quickly, no b.s. upsell/cross-sell stuff in the UI, and free domain privacy)

Anyhow, I've done this with several registrars over the years. Unless someone's changed something, bulk transfers suck with every registrar.

One thing that helps a lot is having your DNS A, CNAME, etc, records somewhere other than the registrar. Then if you move the domain, you don't have to move that stuff as well.
