Happened last night... I planned on watching it live but forgot.

Sucks for Orbital Sciences who had a 1.9 billion contract for a few missions to the ISS. Looks like it's the end...

5,000 pounds of supplies going up like a match head. That's gotta suck for those on the ISS who've been waiting for a fresh supply of snacks. I can only imagine the reaction they had watching that. "Oh yeah baby, come to papa... wait, WTF! no! NOOOOOOOOOOOO! fffffuuuuuuuuuuu (sob)".

Or something along those lines.

That sound is loud as fuck, man.

Why is that little bitch in the video crying? It's not like people were onboard...

Interesting that they actually detonated it on purpose 6 seconds in after they realized it wasn't going to get anywhere. I guess to prevent it from coming back down and shooting off sideways....

I saw this too. Apparently it's the first catastrophic launch since a Russian space shuttle years ago. Going to put the space station project behind big time since they're about to run out of supplies. I hope if anyone is up there they have enough food/water until the next shipment. Imagine being stuck up there and getting this news.

Yeah what the hell is that about. You would think the rocket just slammed into the world trade center by that reaction.

Still it I'd prefer being stuck without food rather than without spaceship...

The reporter's emotional reaction in the video OP posted are echoes of the emotional reaction from the reporter who documented Hindenburg Disaster.

It's like a futuristic Donner party...

Fuck Orbital Sciences, they deserve this.

They are using shitty Russians rockets that are over 40 years old. Just to be clear, they aren't just old Russian rocket designs, the actual rocket engines were built decades ago and were pulled out of some mothballed commblock warehouse and sold to Orbital Sciences for cheap.

If that wasn't bad enough, the only reason Orbital Sciences got their launch contracts is because they bribed people. So, it's not a surprise to anybody who follows this sector closely that one of their launches went boom.

Normally I'd hope that something like this would put these shady bastards out of business, but they've greased too many palms around DC.
