Thinking of learning French over a 3-4 months period in Montpellier for fun. What's the monthly expense is like provided I already have accommodation.

What to expect? Is there a better choice? Any recommendation for schools?

Appreciate it in advance or should I say, merci beaucoup!

why the fuck anyone would want to learn french is a mystery to me. Go learn a useful language like Chinese. You'll be one step ahead of everyone else when they buy america.

here some french for you

It's the same as the rest of western europe. maybe 2k euros for an ok time since you already have accomodation.

some people enjoy specific languages, or want to do business in a specific environment. the China bubble is going to pop anyway.

I mean come on you really gonna do business in France or someone who speaks french? The point I was trying to make is...

Chinese/mandarin is the most spoken language in the world. close to a billion people speak it. The languages that come next are spanish and english around 350 million each. Only 70 million people in the world speak french. If your gonna spend time learning a language, make it one that's worth learning. If your doing it for shits and giggles then w/e.

lol! how do you know if clyde doesn't know chinese? i thought he's half chinese or something like that?

I took 6 years of French between middle/high school, can't remember 1/3rd of it, which is why I need to brush up on that shit. It's a great language though IMO, I def. recommend learning it.

Took French from the 1st grade, up until the 9th grade. Don't remember much, except the basics. Moving to Montreal soon though, so hopefully that Rosetta Stone shit actually works

I could think of better things to do with my time... however, Montpellier is a nice city, got no idea of French schools, if you got a place to stay you're probably going to need 1,200 Euro ($1,600) a month. You will be on the coast and the obvious alternative is Paris, however the south of France is heaven...

This.
South France is really awesome, check out the area around Narbonne-Plage, kickass place to stay. You can rent small houses with 2 rooms + kitchen + bath for 800-1k€ a month. Paris fucking sucks. Dirty city, way too crowded, horrible traffic shit and gay people everywhere. And prices for a decent appartement are pretty high.

Haha, thanks for the suggestions and the trollolol.

I'm genuinely interested in French culture and 2 hours of French in the morning, 2 hours of working online, and the rest of the day fucking around at the beach and going to coffee shops shouldn't be too bad IMO. Might as well do something while I'm doing nothing.

$1.6k-$2k should be easy to swing.

Cheers for the suggestion!

p/s: Mandarin is def. a useful language to learn, I just personally don't find it that attractive and neither does my mom.
She's Chinese and doesn't speak Mandarin lol.

What are the French women like? Is it true they don't shave their arm pits?
